Midas-icon.png Description

Mostly composed of the awkward and unfertile swamps with small mineral deposits, Upasael is a vast stretch of naturally inarable earth and is a home to only the hardiest of plants and beasts, and the same goes for the people who live there. Rarely anyone chooses Upasael as a place to live because of her beauty and easy way of life, and most of the inhabitants are either here in pursue of specifically their trading interests, or value the gold so much that they are willing to oversee or work in the small corners of this region that actually make profit. One of those is the small stone quarry in the north which makes the majority of the overall income of Upasael. Upasael is one of the few region in the area that has natural resources for exceptional stoneworks, which puts a certain strategical weight on these badlands. There is also a very very small fertile field on the far southern reaches of the region which produces enough food to feed one of the smallest population of the Far East.

Upasael is a geographically large region that is difficult to traverse due to the barren and still dangerous marshes, which, besides being home of many a dangerous predators of nature, are also very fluid and unstable with only several miles of solid ground. However, roads have been built on that solid ground, mostly to ease the travel and trade of the region. The long road from Akanos in the east through the center of the main village square of Upasael and further south to the periphery of Ozrat is known as the Upasaelian Trade Line. The trading posts are built every several miles on the Upasaelian Trade Line and they host a dozen of warehouses for the preservation of goods, guarded by a small garrison of militia in each one of them. During the hot and brimstone nights of Upasael, the Upasaelian Trade Post proves to be the most crucial outposts for illumination of the roads as the hundreds of lanterns are lit every night along the roads to light the way for the shadow merchants that are unlucky to travel in the dark of the night. The Upasaelian Trade Line makes an impressive view at night, as the fire that follows the line resembles the imaginary fiery snake that vividly crawls across the entire region. In the center of the region is perhaps the largest source of light in this insect-ridden lands, and that is the Baron's Castle surrounded by vassal manors, and even further in the night by shacks and cottages of the common people. The castle that is made of stone is popularly called the Tower of Illumination as it stands in the center of the mythical fiery snake, making it the milestone of the steamy and unbearable Upasaelian summer nights.

Midas-icon.png History

The region of Upasael was a former region of Highland Empire. Aethius Kain was appointed Baron after a few others. On 2006-08-28 Aethius Kain was elected Prime Minister of Lasanar so he had to set down as Baron. Halcyon Jazuma, a former knight of Sasat, was later appointed.

With the fall of Lasanar, Upasael became part of Ohnar and then Ohnar West. The region followed the city of Akanos when Duke Hamilton Vita realigned the duchy to Arcachon, and then seceded from Arcachon to the Akadian League. Ohnar West quickly recaptured the region, making Upasael a part of Ohnar West again.
