Observer Up And Running!
Oligarch City - A new newspaper is causing quite a stir up here in the northern plains of the East Island! The government of Oligarch has issued its first paper. Citing discrepencies in other northern newspapers, (the Fontan Digest, for example) the Dictator Lysander had this to say:

"It is time the people of Oligarch had a chance to express their views. We have long suffered the words of other realms without responding, but I am happy to say that time is over. Now people from all over the continent will be informed of our realm's doings."

Whether or not this newspaper will be able to make it in the competitive world of journalism, we will have to wait and see. Stay with us as we bring you the details. - Paul

We need writers (and helpers)!
The Oligarchian has been launched, but we need correspondents. We accept anybody, but we especially need more Oligarchian nobles to step up and become - A Reporter!

(Plus, I really don't want to have to interview myself.)

Also, as you can see, the articles aren't lining up the way I/you think they should. I don't know if it's even possible, but we also need some codepeople who know what they're doing in order to make it look good. - Paul (This part has been fixed now! Thanks go out to Gsklee for giving me some good ideas)

Slaughter in Commonyr East Island Under Siege! Bloody Battle in Oberndorf
This morning Sirion troops moved to Commonyr and slaughtered the Oligrachian troops that proudly tried to defend their homeland. Total:

36 attackers (639 Inf, 159 MI, 125 Arch, 148 Cav, 32 SF) 5 defenders (111 Inf, 25 other) Total combat strengths: 13538 vs. 1416

The Oligrach troops just woke up after a good night sleep and prepared themself to travel to their next destinations. After a few minutes a guard came to the nobles who where in command. "What's the problem guard?" asked one of the nobles as the guard replied with "I saw an huge Sirion army comming to us. We must defend ourselves." The nobles quickly looked at eachother and saw a second guard coming to them. From that guard they heared the same news.

After that they ordered their men to prepare for the battle. Once the troops heared this they grabbed their swords and shield and waited for the Sirion army to arive.

After a few minutes all troops where standing ready to defend their region. Even some peasant grabbed weapons to defend their homes. Then they saw the Sirion army marching to the battlefield.

On both sides marshals took control of the their army's. Sir Boom Boom, Duke of Slimbar, Marshal of the army of Slimbar was the commander of the attacking forces and Efighter, Marshal of the army of Ashforth was commander of the defending forces.

Everyone knew that the battle was about to start. When some Oligrach TL's looked around they noticed that their was a strong wind. That meaned they didn't should worry about the archers.

For a moment everyone was silent and the wind was the only thing you could hear. Then the Oligrach troops start to run to their enemy's. The archers of Sirion quickly responded and started shooting their arrows. Already many troops of Oligrach went down either dead or wounded. After the rain of arrows that was shoot at them the troops came to a close battle. In the beginning the troops where able to fight back and killed some Sirionites. However they weren't able to hold this for the enitre battle. After a while the troops got tired and Sirion took their chance. The overwelmed defenders were killed our wounded.

Everyone who still was able to move left the battleground before the Sirionites would finish them too. The nobles who didn't get wounded in the battle gathered their men and returned to the capital. They all know that todays battle in Commonyr has been lost, but all troops who saw their comrades get slaughtered in this battle sweared revenge for their fallen friends. - Efighter

In a move that stunned the majority of the East Island nobility, Nature itself has turned on us all! Scattered reports mention the seas being low, the western coast being pounded by tsunamis and a breathless report from Sirion Castle say something about a peasant uprising! From what little we know, a major prophet has arisen from the normal amount of naysayers, doomsday predictors and the other rabble to become an actual force amoungst the peasant population and has, by all acounts, set up his base in Sirion Castle! Incredulas as it seems, the crazy prophet, (as he refers to himself as) claims that the castle is built on an ancient temple and that the temple should be excavated, even if that means destroying the castle. Frightened by the amount of support this crazy man has, the local officals allowed the peasants to do as they wished while they sent messengers flying towards Avamar City to locate the Prime Minister of Sirion, Doc. (Some of the aforementioned messengers were confused by the darkened sky and rode to Oligarch City for shelter against the storm, which they where given)

With the captial of Sirion claimed by the crazy old man, some say that the realm of Sirion is cursed by the gods and the crazy prophet is doing their bidding. Others are unconvinced, but the state of this storm is getting worse. Not in rainfall, but in strangeness. First, there was just a black sky, now the wind has picked up. The air seems and smells strange as well... the animals have gone become like wild things. Reports of chickens, pigs and other livestock breaking out of their pen and running wild throughout the city are flying back and forth. The sky is being increasingly darker and looks much more dangerous. Also, the priests are crying out in fear over the rising of a being known to them as "The Third". Soot, dust, and strange particules are falling all over the city, blotting out the sun. Darkness has now fallen over the city. The darkness is complete, no matter which way a person looks. Even climbing to the highest tower in the city offers no view of the light, (save for the multitude of torches being lit). The sun has disappeared, the sea is acting with murderous intent and the animals have gone wild. It is almost as if the very essence of the Island is disturbed by the rise of this "Third". All Oligarchian forces where ordered back to the capital city, but the strange darkness, night and air all fell before even the first messenger left the city gates. There was no way they could locate the noble's nor their units in the drifting malaise, so they were recalled. In the midst of all this, plans are being made for the defense of the city. The General Arnuad was seen multiple times pacing around the outer walls while frowning at the blueprints. This reporter was also engaged in the defense of the city, (considering this reporter is the Marshal of the Oligarchian Duchy) so this report is late due to military duties and the need to personally interview the messengers from Sirion to verify their story. If this is indeed the end of human life on this continent, as some have been heard to whisper, (mostly while drunk though) then this reporter hopes that some record of our accomplishments will remain. For surely, human's are curious creatures. In another time, some will venture out to the ocean again and the East Island will be re-discovered. If it is destroyed, of course. If we are not to be destroyed, then we shall go on as before. - Paul

Oligarch City - The Oligarchian Army was attacked by an overwhelming force of Sirionites in Oberndorf several days ago. From what we at the Observer can determine, it seems that the Sirionite Army was able to conceal itself from Oligarch's scouts. The Army of Sirion was then able to use its concealment in order to launch a surprise attack on the Oligarch Army attempting to takeover the rogue region there.

However, the battle did not go as well as the inital attack. It seems that either the Sirionite Army was set up wrong, or the Oligarch Army was able to counter the attack - regardless of the Sirionite battle plan. In the opinion of this reporter, (who was the lone Marshal in the battle) there wasn't time for formal battlelines, advances and counter attacks. It was a realitivly chaotic battle and both armies paid the price for it.

Outnumbered almost two to one, the Oligarch Army was able to hold off the intital waves of Sirionite attackers. The first hours of battle where some of the deadiest to Sirion, but once it was obvious that Oligarch would put up a fight, there was no other option but to use overwhelming force.

Sirion's main casualities came in the first three hours of the battle, while Oligarch's main casualities came later in the battle, after Sirion's warriors formed up into strict lines and advanced.

In a later interview with the Oligarchian General, Sir Arnuad would only say this:

"We've been beaten this time, but we have managed to keep at lest some of our units intact and alive. We will learn from this battle and get stronger with time."

Comments from Sirionite nobles ranged from the solemn to the shocked. One unnamed Sirionite noble, when presented with the after-action status of his unit, was heard to say:

"Six dead and six wounded out of fourty men."

The statistics aside, the battle was won by the Sirionite forces and have since reinforced themselves in Oberndorf with fresh troops from Sirion Castle. With the sobering sight of the Sirionite Army outside its walls, the nobles of Oligarch will have to wait and see what Sirion intends to do with Oberndorf. - Paul
