The Tempus' Buckler of Croton is a small shield, no larger than two hands across. It is very light for its size. Made of some metal, there is a dull patina of age over the buckler but at the edges it gleams with rainbow hues. Around the center there are hammered marks that may be numbers, fanning out into a star pattern. What these marks might signify is unknown.
Local legend has it that a saint used the buckler to perform a minor miracle. In his many travels he encountered the people of Swingway town in Croton. There a drought was destroying crops and causing much suffering. Seeing their plight, he traveled to a dry well just north of the crossroads, prayed out loud with the buckler in both hands then cast the shield into the well. A sweet and generous water was brought up and sustained the town for the duration of the drought.
