Template talk:Arcaea Regions

Are you willing to update this template reliably every time the regions change, forever? If not, please replace the hard-coded template with something that uses semantic queries. --Tom 13:20, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

That is a very nice idea and if someone made one that worked I'd love to use it... but I am not the most experienced person when dealing with semantics. I did look after you asked at the semantic wiki and though there is a template that should do the job, it does not seem to work for Arcaea. --Aerywyn 05:26, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I've had a bit of a look at Aerywyns issue, the fault seems to lie in the concept:Duchies. The Query for concept:Duchies seems fine - [[Category:Regions]][[is regiontype::City||Stronghold] returns

Agyr, Alebad, Alowca, Arak Castle, Askileon, Chesney, Darfix, Dark Citadel, Eidulb, Firbalt (Region), Fontan, Gelene, Giblot (Region), Golden Farrow, Heen (Region), Libidizedd, Lukon, Muspelheim, Oritolon, Oroya, Outer Tilog (Region), Paisly, Perdan, Port Nebel, Port Raviel, Portion, Shrine of Seeklander, South-West/Toren Stronghold, Vozzessdor, Wetham (Region)

the problem comes from trying to then use the Part Of Property, it does nothing.

we can also see a similar problem here #ask:[[part of::Arcaea]][[Is regiontype::Stronghold] returns correctly

#ask:[[part of::Arcaea]][[Is regiontype::City]] also returns correctly

Not sure why this is, when looking at the failed query result the Part of property is still being returned correctly, it just isn't being used to filter the results. --Masdus 06:43, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Here is a working semantic region box for Arcaea. I based it off the Regions of template (and I use the regions of\duchy template for formating) Only difference will be that the stronghold duchies are always listed below the cities, since I had to split the two cases. http://wiki.battlemaster.org/wiki/User:Masdus/Arcaea_Regions

There is a little issue with some of the ']]'s coming up confused in the inquiry, but I tried fiddling with that only to find they had to be in regardless. All in all it looks good and serviceable, which is the main point. Wonderful work, John! --Aerywyn 06:02, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
