Pets???

Ehm, hello guys, this isn't called BATTLEmaster for nothing. This is a battling game, please, don't start with pets! How rediculous would that be, one fighting a war and then suddenly saying to his adversary "Hold on a second" and to a dog sitting behind him "Go home, fluffy, I told you to stay inside, go play with the cat" and back to his adversary "Okay, where were we? Oh yes I was killing you". I mean, that's just rediculous, and that has nothing to do with medieval battling. Van Peteghem 20:32, 17 December 2006 (CET)

Well for one thing this is aROLE-PLAYING game just as much or even more so then a battling game.

And if you were fighting on a horse, donkey or camel (something like that) against someone on foot yes I would say you would have a huge advantage, and last time I check the Egyptians had pets, which way before the medieval times so yes again it would make sense for medieval times.

I just want to point out that lots of players role play having pets...I mean think about it, battle only happens twice a day, people gotta fill that time with something other than kill kill kill, why NOT supplement RPs with pets?

Because they would be much better off making it all up? Really, a noble's pet wasn't sent into battle alongside his unit. Ever. Sure, a guy on a horse has an advantage over the footmen, but only heroes fight themselves, and every noble can own a horse/camel/something, and is most likely using it in battle. Also, as for the abilities for pets suggested, I don't agree with a single one. Birds were used for hunting (because people didn't want ravens or crows back in the middle ages. Bad luck and all), or prey for the hunting avians. Scoutings: How's the pet supposed to tell you how many people that are camped? Or even know where it's supposed to go? Escaping from prison: The guards probably confiscated and/or killed the pet when you were captured. Besides, how is it going to show you a way out that you'll fit through? CS bonus: You don't send your treasured pet into battle when your person isn't threatened. Would you send your dog into the army? Decreased travel time: Animals are more than capable of keeping up. It'd rather be the soldiers lagging behind ;) Messaging neighboring regions: Eagles don't deliver messages. Pigeons do, sure, but can't you just pay some guy to send a message with his pigeon?
