What is Legend? I've never heard of that.... is that just a legendary hero? Like, when you bury the hero? Oh, and all those you have at 8 prestige i think are actually 10. Except Hero, which MIGHT be 5 or 8 Vellos 6 March 2006 05:43 (CET)

Yup. Almost definitely I think he means a Legendary Hero. And all you need for that is to grab a bit of Prestige and youre made. - Revan

Pretty sure the requirments for Mentor and Buro are 6 prestige... -- Fanta

I'm pretty sure that Trader has some requirements. When I used to play with a trader character I couldn't change to anything for about a month after, but I got sent off with the army to fight in some huge battles so I earned around 17 honour and 8 prestige. --The1exile 16 March 2006 18:40 (CET)

I dont think the priest has any requirements, I've seen em with 1 prestiege... Also I got 50 honor and 31 prestiege on one char and neither infiltator nor cavalier is available --Torin 04:23, 24 May 2006 (CEST)

  • Maybe it is because you have to stay a predefined time in the realm to have the option available the first time you change class... I read somewhere that you had to stay around 50 days in a realm to get to those two classes...
  • I've spent the past few weeks observing the Change class option each turn. I've read somewhere that someone was able to change on the 31st day in the realm. Well, the option didn't appear until now. Today is my character's 31st day in the realm. That means the magic number is 31 :)

I have a character with 22 honor and 4 prestige that can become a Bureaucrat. --F

Gimme a week and I might be able to check about buro requirements. --The1exile 00:35, 21 June 2006 (CEST)

I have a character with 20 honour and 2 prestige that can also become a Buro -- Slchan0 12:48, 12 July 2006 (CEST)

How in Baator do you get 20 honour with only 2 prestige? --The1exile 19:57, 12 July 2006 (CEST)

He could have wasted away the prestige doing stuff that cost it. Eg. Stepping down, asking for family money etc ScottSabin 21:01, 12 July 2006 (CEST)

To be appointed to anywhere you can step down from and lose prestige you have to have at least 5 prestige. Then add in the loss of three extra prestige. I find it odd, and if anyone could go the the lengths of doing that simply to do it, I would still be surprised.--The1exile 21:44, 12 July 2006 (CEST)

It was a new character in ASI and since I didn't get any chance of any major battles to gain prestige, I just wander around in realm for monster fights for the honour and also from doing region maintenance. So when he have 20 honour, I noticed I can already change class to Buro and Trade, not Mentor though. And I didn't have any prestige loss too. -- Slchan0 03:39, 13 July 2006 (CEST)

Should this page be merged with the Classes page? Majromax 23:17, 12 September 2006 (CEST)

Haha. I was bored one day and made this page. I'd seen a lot of questions though about changing classes at this point. I never thought it'd end up being considered for the manual. Thanks to everyone who contributed. -- User:Steve2609 -- 12 September 2006

Are you sure about the H/P requirements? My character in CE has 19/4, and had the options of becoming mentor and hero. And there was a guy with 50 honour and less than 20 prestige there who had the infiltrator option. -Marouane 14:56, 30 September 2006 (CEST)

No, they're not sure, as shown by the above remarks also. bI have a char with 15H2P, not class available except trader (and the locked option for priest). --The1exile 15:45, 30 September 2006 (CEST)

Infil

It looks like its been a long time since this was commented on, but I have the same comment: Are those stats correct? I have a character with 48 honour and 17 prestige, yet he can become an infiltrator(should need 50). Have the stats perhaps been changed since they were posted?

Much of the information on this page is obsolete, as the note at the top of the page says. Please see Class for current information. --Anaris 14:04, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Are you sure those stats are right for Infil? One of my characters has 55 Honour and 16 Prestige and is unable to become an Infil - although she had the option a while back, but was Duchess of a City and couldn't become an Infil because of that. But now she has no land, is in a different realm and cannot become an infil? --Crazylozda 19:20, 4 February 2007 (CET)

Just thought it might be because i have 2 men :P
Infils. Can't have positions, and need to be in a realm for at least 30 days, I think--Steve2609 23:35, 4 February 2007 (CET)

Cavalier

LouisJoseph Chénier Physical Age: 21 years Character Class: Knight Honour: 56 Prestige: 26

If your current career as Knight doesn't work out quite the way you hoped, you can start a new career here. Those available to you at this time are shown below. Note that some career changes are not without penalty, so you should choose your career carefully because switching back may be hard or impossible.

   * Become a Trader
     Put your focus in earning gold instead of spending it, and learn the art of trading.
   * Become a Bureaucrat
     Bring order into the chaos. Concentrate on organisational skill and civil service.
     It may not bring as much glory, but it is less risky and you can actively improve the realm.
   * You cannot become a priest
     Before you can become a priest, you must be a full member in the religious order of your choice.
   * Become a Hero
     Raise yourself above the ranks of the cannon fodder and become a living legend.
     Or a dead one, as that is the risk of heroes. Note that this is a career with no exit.
     Once on this path, you can only become a legend, or a failure.
   * Become a Mentor
     You take a step back from active duty (though you should not retire entirely) and
     concentrate on teaching newcomers the ropes, turning youngsters into capable knights
     for your realm.
   * Become an Infiltrator
     A spy, a saboteur, a man of the shadows. Only the most reliable nobles of the realm get
     offered this position.
Where's the cavalier class? Why isn't it there? Unless I am forced to recruit cavalry? (I am leading archers right now) -Chénier 02:24, 28 March 2007 (CEST)
You don't need cavalry. My cavalier is leading infantry right now. For infils and cavaliers, you also need to be in the realm for a while, and there might be something else that allows it. All of my characters were able to get it at 50h and 20p--Steve2609 04:58, 28 March 2007 (CEST)
As you can see, the infil option is there. I have the honour and prestige, and have been in the realm for over two months. Perhaps there is a leadership score requirement? (I don't think mine's too high, he's been a bureau for most of his career) -Chénier 02:17, 29 March 2007 (CEST)
It may be, or it maybe be something along the lines of banned people can't become cavaliers? I can try and do some research on this, if my char doesn't get executed. --The1exile 17:50, 29 March 2007 (CEST)
You can only change class while in a region of your own realm. Since rogues don't have a realm, can they still change class at all? --Indirik 23:33, 29 March 2007 (CEST)
Well, I'm obviously not a rogue, as I've been in the realm for over 2 months, and I am in the capital right now. The ban is an interesting idea, though I seriously doubt it. It seems rather silly. -Chénier 00:20, 30 March 2007 (CEST)
Perhaps I need to have been a *knight* for over a month? I have a tendency to change classes from time to time... -Chénier 04:11, 8 May 2007 (CEST)
I just fixed part of the Cavalier section. I know you don't need to be a Lord or Ruler since my Cavalier wasn't one when I changed classes.
I thought that just meant really that you have to be a knight or higher rank, i.e that you still switch to cavalier if you are a lord or ruler. --The1exile 14:09, 7 August 2007 (CEST)
Concerning this change, the previous edit meant the knight rank, and not the knight class. Imperial knights cannot become cavaliers, and I could not because the system was still rather buggy back then, treating knights as "nobles". -Chénier 20:48, 26 December 2007 (CET)

Is Cavalier something a char can only be once? I know one of my chars has been Cavalier in the past, but then returned to knight and now I don't have the option to make him Cavalier again (hon/pres is not an issue) and he is experienced enough and long enough in his realm. Medium 00:33, 30 December 2007 (CET)

LJ was a cavalier before, and he still had the option to become one. It depends on you rank, unaligned nobles can't be cavaliers, as far as I know. -Chénier 06:51, 11 January 2008 (CET)

My character merkandur castillo just changed class, I am a lord, 57 honor, 20 prestige, 89 days in the realm.

Martyr?

I thought a Martyr was someone who died for their religion/cause? So how can you declare yourself a Martyr and still be alive? --Crazylozda 20:03, 5 June 2007 (CEST)

You don't have to be dead to be a martyr: mar·tyr (märtr)
n.
1. One who chooses to suffer death rather than renounce religious principles.
2. One who makes great sacrifices or suffers much in order to further a belief, cause, or principle.
3.
a. One who endures great suffering: a martyr to arthritis.
b. One who makes a great show of suffering in order to arouse sympathy.
Andrasta 22:01, 5 June 2007 (CEST)
Number 3a/b is of modern invention: "to play the martyr"
I guess number 2 counts, though I've never heard it used that way before. It would still require the perspective "martyr" to actually endure torture, though (or equivalent). (I know, it's just a game. Still, the question was a valid one.) --Slaadslayer 08:10, 24 June 2008 (CEST)

How is it that a Priest/Hero can be killed? If they are not able to fight on a battlefield, where else would they be able to meet death? D.west.ton 05:28, 3 February 2009 (CET)

Advy?

My char has 9 P and 5 H, 3 recos, and has been in his realm for ~30 days. How much more for being able to become a knight? Ceorl

  • I'm fairly certain that you need 10 honour and 10 prestige to become a knight. At least, the option didn't appear to me sooner than that. Could've changed later on, but I'm pretty sure. Foreign Curs 11:46, 27 December 2007 (CET)
I just got the option to change class and i have 11 honour and 7 prestige. I have been an adventurer since the first day you could create one. --Crazylozda 21:45, 10 January 2008 (CET)
10 honnour and 5 prestige, as far as I know. -Chénier 06:50, 11 January 2008 (CET)
