Alicean, Knight of Lasop

Alicean is the third out of four children born from the marriage of Thomas and Alice Sunmar. Her name bears a clear similarity to her mother's, as she was the first girl to be born from that marriage.

She is a mere 17 years old, but she is without a doubt the most famous of the Sunmars. Pure and innocent, she does her best to help anyone who is in need, without regards for her personal safety. The suffering of others brings her great pain, as it was seen after the battle of Lantzas, where Alicean was seen crying on the battlefield among the bodies of the many who had lost their lives that day. She is known for keeping a bright mood most of the times, being extremelly quick to smile, though in recent times, she has been growing more and more reserved and is showing clear signs of fatigue. Some of her soldiers, who came with her from Atamara to the Far East believe that this is due to the fall of her homeland to enemy forces, and the unknown whereabouts of the rest of her family

Childhood and the Arrival to Ethiala

Thomas Sunmar was the son of a trader who managed to gather many riches during his lifetime to 'buy' his way into nobility. Thomas and Alice were not noble by birth, but when the family wealth came into their hands, they did their very best to blend in with the rest of the 'true' nobility. That explains that why until now, no one had ever heard of the Sunmar family. Both Thomas and Alice are dead now. Alice died when giving birth to Sakura, Alicean's baby sister. Thomas died several years later, victim to the long illness that had plagued him. The four orphans were then taken by a friend of the family, who became their 'uncle'. It was this man who taught them the ways of a noble, and how to behave as one. Alicean always envyed her elder siblings, who were being taught the ways of the sword as well, while she was being denied that priviledge. Fortunately for her, her eldest sibling, Ephraim, agreed to pass his knowledge to her. It wasn't much, but it was something. The rest was self taught, when no one was watching over her. Finally, when she turned 17, she decided the time had come to see the world. Following her brother's advice, she travelled to the Far East, where she would start a new life as a troop leader. Ephraim spared some of his "Winterguard" to her, as well as a few gold coins, to help her start out.

Little did she knew of the reasons behind his eagerness to help her out. Shortly after the left, her homeland was taken by hostile forces and all contact with her family was lost... well, almost. She has recieved word since then that one of her siblings had been serving under the same realm that had taken over her homeland. These news brought Alicean's spirit down even further.

Alicean arrived as an unknown noble to Ethiala, leading a small group of archers. At that time, she had never seen battle (her family had gotten her out of Ash'rily before the enemy forces got there... of course, Alicean knew nothing of this). Very unexperienced, but willing to learn she introduced herself to several of Ethiala's nobles, eventually being taken as the first of Duke Aethelwulf's knights. Seeing the young girl's lack of experience, the Arch Priest of Ethiala also decided to take Alicean as an apprentice, though she would never end as a priestess. Since her arrival, she has befriended several nobles and earned the respect of a few others, becoming a welcomed addition to the highly professional Ethialan army. She has also participated in several battles, the most known ones being the sieges of Isular and Colasan by the Ethiala/Lasanar forces, which were both an absolute success.

None of Alicean's men were injured or killed during those battles.

Warrior's Spirit

As stated by her friend Sir Rhathar, Alicean's skill in battle has been increasing since she arrived in Ethiala. At first she would stay behind her men shouting commands and overseeing the battle, but recently Alicean has joined her men in the fray, using a bow or her swords, depending on what the situation requires. Her free time is usually spent at the academy, where she trains hard to become a better swordswoman. While she has basic bow training, mostly from her childhood (well, earlier childhood), she prefers the use of a pair of longswords as her companions in battle. Due to her weak constitution, Alicean is very rarely seen in full armor. She instead favors a leather armor with the added protection from a breastplate. Recently she has added a long coat to her list of garments.
