The March of Shinnen Purlieus cradles the westernmost Lurian city of Shinnen, in the wild reaches of Northern Forland. Its purpose is to guard the numerous towns, villages, and farmlands surrounding Shinnen. This purpose is rendered simple by its rough landscape, providing a topographic wall against the abominations that lurk in the neighboring regions, while also providing satisfactory mobilization for friendly armies seeking passage to the city. Mountains to the west restrict abomination movement in Thar Gortauth, while the hills to the south restrict bandit movement and formation - despite easy cover and hideouts.

Under the Vesperian leadership, native Saritians (Western Lurians) occupied Shinnen Purlieus and made up the majority of its population for as long as anyone could remember. They were thought to be the first people to occupy the march, preceding the formation of the first kingdoms on Dwilight. They were olive skinned, with black or dark brown hair usually worn at shoulder length by both men and women. They were of medium height, quite robust, and warlike as a result of the conditions they lived in. However, most fled the area when starvation ran rampant, forcing the native Saritians to seek food and shelter elsewhere. The march was eventually repopulated with Novans and Pianese (Eastern Lurians), as a result of the second set of recolonization efforts by Luria Nova. These fresh and hard working folk would usher in prosperity and economic activity once again, making Shinnen Purlieus a truly desirable region to own.

Shinnen Purlieus has a marketplace, making it a popular spot with traders, lords, and stewards from the surrounding regions.

History

Stories tell of the first colonization efforts, by Luria Nova, in which they invaded and sieged the local tribes, with sword and shield. It was first taken, however, by the (now destroyed) realm of Myern: men and women who were Fissoans in origin. Their sea-like culture began integrating into the region, until rogues retook the lands for their own. It was after said time that the Lurians of the East advanced, solidifying their grasp on Northern Forland.
