End of August
August 31, 1011

It is that time again, where the end of article comes and the start of a new one begins. This will be the last article of the month for Obsidian News, and I hope all who read this month enjoyed it as much as I did writing it. Everyone can expect another exciting issue next month as well! Full of continental news, rankings, battle reports and anything else we can think of to throw out there! As always, suggestions are welcomed.

Kazakh Falls!
August 31, 1011

Earlier today the combined allied forces of Sirion and Obsidian Islands attacked the great city of Kazakh, not only a city of Sultanate of Asena but their capital. A large, and long battle ensued, with both sides taking heavy casualties. However, the numbers of the allies proved to be to much, and the walls fell to the allies. Sultanate of Asena forces can still be found in the inner city, preparing for a counter-attack, though one much wonder why. At this point, there is a huge overwhelming advantage for the allies, and their walls have been torn down to a lower level, making any kind of defensive stand or counter attack that much harder. This is not the end however, Kazakh is still standing, and under Sultanate of Asena rule, along with Kazan and should the need arise, they still have Oroya as well.

A Caligan Miracle!
August 28, 1011

A battle between Caligus and Ibladesh forces happened, believed to be in the Abadan area of the continent. This was a well over-matched battle as Ibladesh forces crushed the few troops Caligus had in the region. While the battle raged on, a noble of Caligus, one Lash Prime, a Knight of Igno. Troops that where not dead, or seriously wounded brought his body back to a rally area. Shortly after arriving, some troops could hear noises coming from the tent his body was being kept in. After some investigation, it was clear that Lash Prime had come back to life! His wounds nearly fully healed, with only some minimal recovery time left. A Miracle for Caligus!

Chancellor Basilius Disappears
August 28, 1011

It would seem that Chancellor Basilius has disappeared from the ranks of Fontan. It is reported that the guards went to check on him, and they found an empty bed. After a continued search, they could find no trace of the Chancellor anywhere. This was followed by a declaration stating that Fontan was in need of a new ruler and a new election would be set up. One must wonder why though, considering their usual election process is but a couple days away. At any rate, we hope all is well with Chancellor Basilius, and he is found safe and sound.

Caligus High Marshal Jumps Ship!
August 25, 1011

As the war couldn't seem to go any better for the combined forces of Caligus and Perdan against Ibladesh, one would assume that the nobles in both realms would be quite happy. However, word has reached this paper about High Marshal Ejner Namtrah of Caligus has boarded a ship and left for Atamara. What is going on in Caligus that their High Marshal would leave? Is there internal problems? Family problems? Only the ones in Caligus and the Namtrah family know for sure. At any rate, we wish them all the best of luck.

Ibladesh Falling Apart - Part 2
August 24, 1011

While things go horribly wrong for Ibladesh on the east side of their realm, things go equally, if not even worse for Ibladesh on their west as well. It would seem that reports the regions of Zawr and Nimraw are revolting against Ibladesh as well. On top of this, the regions of Zamor and Az Zarqua are also taking damage as well. In case this was not enough for Ibladesh to deal with, there is also reports that the south and south-west are also under constant attack by rogue monster and undead attacks as well. Will Ibladesh ever get a break or is this the beginning of the end?

Ibladesh Falling Apart - Part 1
August 24, 1011

Earlier today a huge battle happened between Ibladesh troops and Caligus troops in the battle of Leibo. Caligus, who recently has taken Igno and moved a large army into Leibo. To make things even worse for Ibladesh, the region then went on to revolt against the rule of the Ibladesh government as well. Now Ibladesh has lost two regions in two days, one to Caligus and one to the independence/rogue movements in the region. Did Caligus manage a lucky strike when Ibladesh wasn't looking, or has Ibladesh fall so far down they cannot put even a decent defense against either front?

Caligus Moves Again
August 23, 1011

Earlier today Caligus was able to complete their take over of Igno, a former Ibladesh region. One must wonder how this is possible, when Ibladesh kicked Caligus out of their realm, and managed to recover their regions of Igno, Leibo and Tota. This must change things for both Caligus and Ibladesh as Caligus now has a region next to Isadril to help support it, and Ibladesh is down another region and another step behind.

Continental Rumors
August 22, 1011

Here at Obsidian News we like to try out different news. Depending on responses, we either keep the peace (power rankings?) or drop them. This month is rumor month, so here are a few rumors for others to think about:

The first rumor we have is that Ibladesh is not only having problems on a two front war (both east and west burning to the ground), but reports of rogue troops plundering the south along with rebels working inside of Ibladesh as well.

An unsuccessful attempt from a rogue noble within Perdan to take Castle Ubent that lead to this nobles banning while this same noble reportedly had contact with the Ibladesh govenment.

Reports coming in that the Sultanate of Asena is planning to overthrow the Obsidian Islands government by sending in rebel agents has caught some attention.

Some rumors out of Fontan are showing they have more or less given up, and now just biding time before an ultimate defeat, after which they plan on restarting their careers in a new colony/realm.

Our final rumor of the night comes out of Caligus, giving us reports that show they are interested in keeping Fontan alive over watching Westmoor expand.

I would like to once again state that these are nothing more then simple rumors going around the continent right now, and are in - no way, shape or form - considered to be founded or true. It is completely up to the reader if they choose to believe any of these.

The Fontan Five
August 20, 1011

Fontan has now been cut down to five regions, thanks to the Westmoor army. Their last five regions include - Krimml, Ashforth, Braga, Oporto, and Negev. With two cities in need of food, one must wonder if the other three regions they hold are able to pick up the huge food demand. It would appear as though Fontan went from facing certain death from Sirion, to turning around and facing certain death from Westmoor. If Fontan survives this by some miracle, will Caligus be the ones deciding their fate next? One must wonder...

SoA Makes A Stand
August 16, 1011

In an attempt to take military control of Oroya once again, Sirion attacked the city while Sultanate of Asena forces where stationed in the city. Once the Sultanate of Asena troops got word of the incoming Sirion forces, they quickly prepared their defenses. A long, and very bloody battle would take place between these two realms, with neither side willing to show fear, and neither side willing to give up their will to win. However no fear and willpower doesn't replace human lives, and overcome the difference of walls, and in the end the Sultanate of Asena was able to drive off the incoming Sirion force, giving them a second major victory in one of their cities, the first being the defense of Kazakh some time ago.

Ibladesh Turning Around?
August 15, 1011

It would seem that that region of Leibo has finally been taken by Ibladesh after they defeated Caligus, which could mean that things are turning around for their wars. However, a win on the Caligus front does not mean that they are succeeding on the Perdan front, as it is nearly believed Ibladesh is avoiding the Perdan troops after so many losses in the past.

A Stalemate Month?
August 15, 1011

With only a few reports coming in from around the continent, it would seem most, if not all the realms, are busy doing other things then fighting. Mainly it would seem some resistant-free looting was done by Perdan in Ibladesh and Sirion in Sultanate of Asena. There is also the "war" between Westmoor and Fontan, where Westmoor is more or less taking regions that might as well be rogue ones since Fontan isn't and can't really put up any resistance. Then Caligus also tried to break through Ibladesh, failing, and Leibo fell to Ibladesh forces shortly after...

Infiltrator Problems
August 15, 1011

It would seem that as Sirion had problems with infiltrators while fighting Fontan that now Westmoor is facing the same problem. It has been reported that there are several infiltrator actions in their realm, many of which have unknown culprits, and some of which they have suspects and even caught a couple of well known infiltrators. The question is, what will they be able to do about it? It is well known that infiltrators that are highly skilled in their work are also highly skilled at escaping, if not outright buying their freedom before actions can be taken.

Victory to Defeat
August 10, 1011

A news day just wouldn't be complete without the section on battle. It would seem not one but two Huge Battles where fought over Igno not to long ago. The two sides on this field was, of course, Ibladesh but instead of the usual Perdan on the other side, Caligus has decided to step up and take the spotlight away from their ally. In the first report shown it has marked down that Caligus walked away with this victory, having a strong showing of military might as Perdan did several times. However this was not to last as the next battle report did not favor Caligus and instead has given Ibladesh a long overdue victory over an enemy. Does this mean that Ibladesh has found a way to turn things around or is this just a a sound victory in a lost cause? We will see....

Three Regions Down
August 10, 1011

In a short time three regions have found themselves no longer under the rogue banner. Pedrera was taken by the Sultanate of Asena, Al Amarah was taken by Sirion and Oberndorf was taken by Westmoor. What does this mean? Well a failing realm has gained a new region to try to stabilize, a strong realm flexes it's power, and a realm full of potential pushes it's borders. What does it mean for the future? Well more battles of course!

New Rulers
August 10, 1011

In a surprising turn of events, both Sirion and Ibladesh find themselves with new rulers this month. The first came from the usual election time in Sirion, but to a surprise for this paper, Prime Minister Meristenzio was replaced by their long standing General Ilias. The election in Ibladesh was not a usual one, as it only happens when their Pontifex steps down, is forced out, or disappears, in this case, Pontifex Theuderik disappeared bringing up new elections. These elections brought upon a new face for Ibladesh, Pontifex Abraxas. We wish both rulers the best of luck, and congratulations on winning your elections. - Addition - Prime Minister Meristenzio was replaced by General Ilias through a regular election that Prime Minister Meristenzio did not run for re-election in.

Expanded Rankings
August 6, 1011

Further explanation into the rankings...Ibladesh was named the first realm on the rankings chart because they have a higher income, a higher military power and despite having some huge losses to Perdan seem to be holding together well. Sirion is named second because, well they are holding the most regions with the most nobles but need to work on their military power and income. Caligus and Perdan take up the third and fourth spots, together they have shown they can, and will, win wars while they continue to win battles against Ibladesh, they also have great amounts of military power, income, nobles and regions. Westmoor takes up the fifth spot mainly because their high amount of military power they hold, along with a decent amount of nobles, regions and a solid income. Sultanate of Asena comes in sixth this month, recently beating the Obsidian Islands in Kazan, and holding more nobles, military power and income then both Fontan and the Obsidian Islands. In seventh place came the Obsidian Islands for having a higher income, more regions and more of a military power then Fontan. Finally in eighth is Fontan, as they work on their badly damaged regions they are finding it very hard to recover thanks to their war with Westmoor, things are even harder for them. To everyone who got the higher rankings (1st, 2ed, 3rd, 4th), congratulations! For all who ranked lower (5th, 6th, 7th, 8th) better luck next month!

New Continent Rankings!
August 6, 1011

1st - Ibladesh :: 2ed - Sirion :: 3rd - Caligus :: 4th - Perdan :: 5th - Westmoor :: 6th - Sultanate of Asena :: 7th - Obsidian Islands :: 8th - Fontan

Fontan, Expanding?
August 2, 1011

Fontan took the region of Negev earlier today, quite a change from before when the only regions they could manage to take over where through religious means. Perhaps things are finally changing for the better in Fontan, with a new region perhaps this means a new dawn with a new day and a better tomorrow, good luck Fontan, we look forward to seeing more positive reports.

A Great Lord Falls
August 2, 1011

During the battle of Kazan with the Army of Obsidian Islands against the Sultanate of Asena Army, the Great Lord of Lundel, Marcus Gaeric, was killed. Shortly after hearing the word that Lord Gaeric was slain in battle, the retreat was sounded, his body was quickly found and brought back to the Islands, may his soul rest in peace.

Over the Month
August 2, 1011

During this last month we missed reporting on...

The fall of Oroya, Sirion attacked and took the city, militarily.

Huge battles in Ar Mosul, Juazeiro, Kazan, Oc Lu Pesh, Clermont, Woolton, Tota, Enubec, Commonyr, Leibo, and Al Aquabah.

Fontan and Westmoor War Continues.

Perdan and Caligus advance deeper into Ibladesh lands.

This is just a few things we missed, this issue, won't miss anything.
