The Noble House of Monomachus

This family is a relatively new family to nobility, but has already been involved in many adventurous circumstances.

The members of the Noble House of Monomachus:

Fiennes-Ioannes.jpg
  • Ioannes Monomachus
    • The eldest child of Chalsus and Kasia Monomachus, Ioannes was heir of the family title and lands until he chose to join the priesthood to defend the faith of his fathers from the incursions of his enemies. He has one child, Vespasian, ostensibly from a night of drunken debauchery with a Gypsy woman; this was committed, of course, before he became a priest. There are, however, rumours that the child may not be in fact his from a few gossipy servants around when the woman, Philana, came to him. Philana died in childbirth, and thus Ioannes is unmarried, and plans to remain so.

  • Niketenas Monomachus
    • The second born of the Monomachus sire, Niketenas is the son who represents them in the Army of the city of Itorunt, known as the Golden Dragon's Army. He was the handsomest of the brothers, known for his many dalliances with farmers' daughters and servant girls. Born five years after Ioannes, Niketenas had always been much more martial in temperament than his elder brother. He joined the army at the age of twenty, and committed himself well to the glory of his realm, Itorunt. However, he has recently been captured by the Judge of the realm of Tuchanon V, and was tortured three times before he was able to escape with the aid of a guard whom he had befriended. He is now scarred, though many are healing to nothing; however, he is now sightless in one eye, and seems much older than his twenty or so years due to the white lines that criss-cross his face.
    • After the death of his younger brother Belisarius, Niketenas travelled to Carelia to oversee his burial and spend some time travelling and seeing the other continents, starting with his brother's second adopted realm. He feels that a Monomachus son was fated to die, and that had he not escaped Tuchanon's dungeon and been killed there, Belisarius would still be alive. He is a brooding soul, though he takes great pains to keep his depression and despondency hidden from the public eye.

  • Belisarius Monomachus
    • Belisarius is the third child of Chalsus and Kasia Monomachus. At the age of seventeen, he left the East Continent to find his own way and make his own glory. He is a reserved and serious young man, and was known for sometime as a recluse and silent warrior. The first realm he pledged his sword to was Eston, in Atamara. However, after the war between Eston and Falasan was completed, he began searching for another Lord. While at a tournament, he found one: The Lady of Oyoniarre, Leta Kindon. She accepted his oath of fealty there, and Belisarius made the long journey to Strombran, his unit deserting him during the journey; this was the year that Kronos, the former King, seceded Nida from the Kingdom, and formed Kronos' Burg. He sent his scouts, Valentinian and Abram, to kill the captain of the unit, Haldred; Valentinian killed the man on a cold night in a back alley behind a pub. He kept up a rapport between Lady Kindon through out the first few weeks of his service, though was unable to meet with her for sometime. When he did meet with her, he was to swear again to her personally, instead of via letter, and when he did so, he made a great impact upon her with his words. This spawned a short time of restless admiration of the Lady, which both knew to be ultimately impossible. A drama worthy of a bard's tale ensued, with Belisarius trying vainly to purge himself of his restlessness, and Leta torn between her former love, Judge Bartho, and this new, young knight. This continued until the death of Leta's elder sister, convincing Leta that she could not hold back any longer and risk losing love. She and Belisarius subsequently began courting. They plan marriage, but there has been no real planning for the event as of yet.
    • Unfortunately, shortly after the trial of Kronos, the former King of Carelia, Belisarius was killed in battle against the undead. The circumstances surrounding his decision to march to Ambermel are unclear.
