The Mandul family is an ancient one. They are of the few families that once ruled a realm that is said to have ruled all the continents. But the common people grew tired of this great empire, with a combination of natural disastors and blatant corruption of the ruling class, rose up against it. The result was a massive civil war. The East continent was the first realm to be lost by the Empire, but peace would not follow there as factions amongst the rebels would begin fighting over control of the East Continent. The continent would be plauged by constant warring until unified by the Elvish empire of Sirion only to be broken up by the gods and war would begin all over again.

It wouldn't be long for the Empire to lose control of the other continents the South West and East Islands sucessfully ceceded and would be plauged by war. Atamara would be a bloody battle ground for years the war seemed to be at a stalemate. But the Empire now faced serious destabilization of bad emperors who appointed even worse generals. The battle of Barad Riel would see the Empire lose control of the stronghold it's symbol of control of the entire continent and within months Imperial forces were pushed out of the continent and retreated to their last territorial possesion, Beluaterra.

The Imperial forces put up a valiant struggle keep hold their home continent, but even there the peasantry wanted nothing to do with the Empire. With help of the local population some rebel forces from the other continents who were unable to take control of the new realms invaded from all sides of the continent and pushed the Empire down to what is now the territory around Ahsborn and and Old Grehk. The Imperial forces held out for ten years on Beluaterra. In the end they were pushed to their capital of Imperial City, present day Keffa. The city was stormed by the rebel forces and razed to the ground. Government officials and members of the royal family were executed. Some royals escaped and lived on amongst the lower classes. This is the origin of the Mandul family.
