Leilith LaCarte is the patriarch of the LaCarte family. He hails from Itomazh in Arachon. He has fifteen children. The first son of his second marriage (to Tanya Bagdagger), Anulith LaCarte, was the first in the family to be raised to knighthood in Itomazh under Count Cerber. Leilith taught Anulith everything he knew about the long bows of the area from the moment Anulith was old enough to walk. In return, when Anulith was given lead of a troupe he asked Leilith to be his second in command. Leilith, already 56 years of age saw this as his last real chance for adventure and excitement and accepted.

Shortly after the raising of Anulith to knighthood, Arachon's ruler Acturus was overthrown by his relative Malus. Anulith had recently joined the religious cult to which Acturus was the male leader. Shortly before his passing Acturus had shown signs of becoming power hungry. He made rash judgement calls that almost resulted in a rebellion in the realm until his death. The death and sudden changes were too much for young Anulith to handle. He became an invalid. In his absence, Leilith assumed command of the Rangers of LaCarte and led them in battle against the Sartanians.

While away, the new ruler Malus quietly left the realm but not before appointing his neice in high command. The orders were few and far between in Sartania and a new ruler was elected, Octavio. The Rangers of LaCarte as well as the Band of the Red Hand (Vite) and Night Shade (Madras) were ambushed by the local militia.

The infantry of Vite faught hard out front to protect the archers commanded by Leilith and Madras. The entire infantry was lost. As enemy was closing in around him, soldiers said that Leilith took out two more of the militia. However, his resistance was futile and Leilith LaCarte met his end on that battle field. Without him the soldiers scattered and retreated. Later they were rallied together by another soldier.

The body of Leilith was burned. The ashes kept in an urn to bring back to Anulith if they made it back.
