This Page is only a sketch of a Concept which I am working on, feel free to share your ideas and thoughts here!

Introduction

Original post from D-List:

A fare while back(start of Dwilight) I had this idea for our wiki that would make it easier for a knight to find a lord that personally suits him.

The idea was to add a list of "traits" (just simple once) to each characters wiki page which shortly describes the personality, likes and dislikes of the specific noble.

A Search engine would in turn look for values that match those of for example the knight that is looking for a suitable lord. The search engine would show the characters page and after reading it threw the knight might have found the perfect lord for him.

Personally i found this a very exiting feature but there where two problems trying to implement it.

1. it was not possible back then.
2. It requires players to participate, if none of our players take the time to pick some of the available traits and add it to there character page, the whole feature fails.

Now, the reason i am bringing this up is because i believe that the above mentioned point 1. could be resolved with the use of Semantic Wiki. However, I am completely unfamiliar with Semantic wiki and there for I am asking those who DO know what it's options are to tell me if this feature has any future at all.

Features

So Far the concept works like this:
A Character can add an Attribute section to his character page which will look like this.
For Detailed Features click here.

There is also a search engine page where people can easily select values to search for.
For Detailed Features click here.

Character Description page

  • Each Atribute can be picked by a drop down menu. or check boxes, default is set for all options on "All".

Possible options are described Here

  • Links on attribute value on character description page whom link to a description page of the specific value(value category).

Or better, I am not sure how there called but it's like a small information page that's automatically show when only gowing over it by your mouse.

  • Idea for character description page: show extremest values(lowest and highest possible "points") first.
  • A Character page doesn't have to have all attributes filled in, however we will ask people to fill in at least 3 attributes.

Search Engine Features

  • Direct Search results will only show the lordstitle, name, the region, region type Lord's Religion and precentage of search results matched. when clicked on the result the user will be directed to the character description page with all the detailed atributes.
  • All options for both partie sshould always be optional, you can leave search values blank.
  • Search input will be selected by drop down menu or check boxes.
  • Search Values are counted in points:

Example: Dark is 9 points, Grey is 7 points neutral is 5 points Clear is 3 points Light is 1 point. If i search for grey then the search system should know that 7(Grey) is best match, 9(Dark) and 5(neutral) second best match and 3(Clear) is third before 1(Light) who's the worse match.
This makes it possible to show precentage of matched (checked above mentioned point.
