Impenetrable Vest of Strength

A Vest passed down to many great and brave Warriors, but lost after a great Wizard defeated a Traitor wearing it. Its flexibility, durability and stories have earned it the name of Impenetrable Vest of Strength. Only the sight of this Vest is enough to demoralize many enemies. Its has a weakness, but what that is, is still unknown.

History and discovery

Letter from Chris to Sir Herkan, Minister of Defenses of Riombara:

Letter from Chris

Its quality is currently 75%. If it ever drops below 30% then Ill be happy to get the repairs done.

I found a Sage in Grehk that was willing to make me this great Vest for a Wooden Statuette and a Bubbling Potion. I had already acquired many items in my search throughout our lands and I only needed to find the Potion. I finally traded it for something else and I went back towards the Sage, who tinkered a lot to those Items and made me this Vest.

How you can make such a item from those items remains a mystery to me. Maybe he only needed it for repairs, as the local peasants managed to tell some tales about the Vest. Connecting all stories together I managed to find this out:

This Vest was once made for a loved King. The King however didn't fight on the battlefield and he allowed his best warrior to wear it. This warrior, already a great fighter, became a Legendary Hero in his time. His presence on the battlefield was enough to defeat armies. With him leading the troops the King managed to conquer everyone and everything. After the King died this warrior kept the Vest and passed it down his family. However since none of his sons became a fighter on the battlefield it became lost and unused. What happened then is unknown.

The stories only tell about many other brave and great warriors that have worn this Vest and they all never lost a fight again after acquiring it. The stories are there to explain the name of the Vest. The Vest is made so that it allows for easy movement of the body, allowing the wearer to use his weapon better and dodge others. The Vest is recognizable on the battlefield, as you will see when I sell it to you, and the sight of this Vest will demoralize many men. This is where the Strength comes from. Even though such a flexible armor looks weak it is known that it partly absorbs and partly deflects all attacks made on it. No sword nor Axe can get through this. One of the stories tells about a Warrior fighting 10 Cavalry at the same time. They charged and couched their lances many times at this Vest, but never went through it. The charges were partly absorbed and the rest of the impact only threw the warrior on the ground. With this Vest he could survive charges of Cavalry! He managed to beat all 10 of the Cavalry using his own spear to knock them of the horses. This is why the Vest is called Impenetrable.

There is not much connection between those stories, but the story of this Vest picks up again when it was last seen. It was said that the Vest came again in the hands of a great warrior. He was however obsessed with power and wanted more and more. He wanted the title of Dictator and nothing less and so he became a traitor. Rallying many troops he assaulted the Kings Palace, but all loyal troops already had gathered at the Walls. Many fell in the huge battle, but the Vest allowed the traitor to kill almost everyone opposing him. Almost everyone, as there was one man he couldnt defeat. The adviser of the King, an old and wise Wizard, fought him one on one. The great Wizard knew the weakness of the Vest and after a huge battle between them he defeated the Traitor, saving the King and the lands of a power hungry Dictator. That Wizard kept the Vest and locked it up at a place unknown to all but him, so it was never used again for such evil purposes.

Now the Vest has been found again by a young Adventerur after meeting a old Sage, acquiring the wanted items by searching throughout the whole Continent and facing many perils. If this Sage was the great Wizard of that time, one of his descendants or just someone that had found the hiding place of the Vest remains a mystery. The Sage however repaired the Vest once more and gave it to the young Adventerur, whom he trusted would pick a worthy wearer. The story continues once more.

I have done my contribution towards the story and picked you as the Vest's wearer. Its now up to you to continue it and to be placed among those brave and great warriors. Soon the peasants will no longer speak of the Traitor, but of Sir Herkan, the greatest Warrior of all times!
