History

The Haine family has a long and somewhat questionable history. The current patriarch is R'lyeh Haine. Ever a vigorous man, he is the father of 13 sons and 5 daughters. Ever the honorable man, naturally all of these sons and daughters are from his marriage. The Haine family fortunes were originally from land and resources from their estates. However, having fallen on hard times, the family sought other ways to increase their remaining holdings. Having large amounts of land that had no true value to it, and with war, plague and death spreading across the land, the Haine family turned to burial, internment and cremation. Several of the family were holy people, so all rights could be observed and respected. Using a considerable amount of gold and valuables, the family has created above ground burial vaults and several cavernous underground crypts. And since the burial spaces are rented, the family receives a continual influx of gold in addition to the initial burial fees. As a result of the families current occupation, they have developed and intense respect and reverence for the dead and their rituals.

Even with this cash flow, many of the current children of R'yleh know that their share of their father's wealth, will be insignificant at best, so they have decided to strike out on their own. As of this time, Samuel Haine is the only child who has made it to anyones notice. However, two of his brothers, Samson and Sammael are supposedly out in the world somewhere. Also, 4 sisters, Samara, Samantha, Samicah and Sampriti have supposedly gone out to make their own way.

Samuel Haine: A small man, no more than 5'4 inches tall with a thin build of approximately 145 pounds. Short black hair with green eyes, Samuel has ever been an orderly and meticulous man. One of the smaller of the family's son's, he has found that he can usually think his way around most issues that confront him. And while he abhors war for he chaos that it brings, he is not one to back down easily, though he will not go on a suicidal mission's either. HIs main fault and downfall has often been his inflexibility. He has a firm belief in what is right and wrong and often times has had difficulty moving through the gray areas in life. He also has a disdain for several of his other family members, including his sister Samantha and brother Samminett, both of whom he considers drunkards and embarrassments. As with the other members of his family, he has a wary distrust of his brother Sammael, who's very presence seems to invite disorder and who has more than once, promised to see Samuel dead. Samuel has a long and prosperous career in CE, his one and only home. Originally appointed as the Count of Dontow, Samuel stepped down from that region when the lands were given back to Carelia as a part of the peace treaty between the two nations. He was then quickly appointed as region lord of Alaise, an especially proud moment for Samuel as his family has its traditional ancestral home there. After a steady and relatively uneventful reign there, Samuel was elected as the current Prime Minister of the Cagilan Empire. As always, his faithful companion Deelanyah, a black Siamese cat, accompanies him wherever he goes.

Samantha Haine: A striking and energetic woman, Samantha Haine stands 5'9 inches tall, with blue eyes, thick black hair that stretches down her back ending right above her belt line, and weighing approximately 115lbs (if you ask her that is, no one is really certain what her actual weight is). Samantha is the middle daughter of R'yleh and Shiva Haine. Samantha is an incredibly superstitious woman, always carrying several good luck charms along with her, including a Tiger's Eye ring given to her by her brother Samuel and an ancient coin with a womans face on one side and a spider on the other, nearly worn smooth after all this time. Being an avid reader of Tarot cards, tea leaves and just about any other type of prognostication she could use, she often will make difficult and important decisions by consulting one of these methods. Unfortunately, while she means well, she is more than a bit selfish and self centered. Her entire world seems to revolve around herself and while she understands that there are other people out there, she sees them as extensions of herself and only recognizes them for the things they can provide her. She is also a heavy gambler and heavy drinker, which has lead her into more than a few embarrassing, if not dangerous, situations. She had recently achieved her life long goal of becoming an infiltrator, only to then find herself in an enemy prison and deported to the continent of Beluaterra.

Samson Haine: Tall (6'6) and athletic(225 lbs), Samson looks and acts nothing like his older brother Samuel. Samson is a very outgoing and funny fellow, with long blond hair, blue eyes and a full beard. He also has slight folds at the corners of his eyes depicting an ancestry one can only guess at. One of the better liked members of the Haine family, Samson has a burning hatred for the Vashemere family which no one outside the Haine family knows the source of. Any members of the Vashmere's that he comes across he will automatically challenge to a duel till he had maimed or killed them. After several such incidents with lesser members of the Vashmere family, Samson's father stepped in and forbade him to continue. Rejecting his father's authority, Samson struck out on his own, attempting to make his way in the world and to this day, continues to search for Vashmerians to kill. His time here has been quite a tumultuous one. Originally starting his career of the sword on the now sunken SEI, Samson was lord of not one but two separate regions there, as well as being the marshal and sponsor of Taselak's 2nd largest army. When that island began to sink beneath the waves, Samson made his way to the Colonies, where he was a part of the realm of Alowca for a brief time, before finding the slower paced life there one of boredom, and he moved on to the more promising continent of Beluaterra.

Sammael Haine: An outcast of the Haine family, Sammael has not let his father's prejudices impede his ascent to power. Cast out from the family over religious differences between himself and the family's reigning patriarch, R'yleh, Sammael originally came to the continent of Beletuarra as a commoner, as he had been stripped of his family crest and papers. Working tirelessly, Sammael eventually gathered 4 unique items, all with strange and moderately grotesque appearances and abilities. Trading in these items for knighthood, Sammael joined the ranks of nobility once more, joining the realm of Plergoth. However, this was immediately before the massive invasion of Daimons that swept across the lands. In his 4th battle with them, his unit of infantry was wiped out to a man and Sammael himself was captured. After several days of torture, which gave him the trio of poorly healed scars that travel from his forehead, down over his left eye and end at his ear, he managed to escape and make his way onto a ship eheading to the Eastern Continent. After a tedious two months there, Sammael left to find a land where his natural combat skills could be put to use. Ending up on the also now sunken SWI, Sammael was quickly appointed as count of one of the region's there. Unfortunately, a few issues with the leadership there had the end result of him being banned from that land, and being deported to the newly rediscovered continent of Dwilight, where he assumed command of Stratford, one of the coast land regions of the great realm of Springdale. More recently, with the mysterious illness that plagued one of the region lords of Springdale, he was appointed the Duke of the city of Springdale, and currently holds the office of Imperial Inquisitor of that nation. Finally satisfied with his life, he feels he has vindicated the shame his family had cast upon him.

(I don't mean to step on the realms toes, but this is a family I have played in other RPG's for years, and so I hoped to bring a couple of them to here. I have toned them down to respect the guidelines and rules of this realm and hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.)
