Greetings all! This is the way! A total of 84 nobles from 12 realms paid the 15 gold entry fee in hopes of claiming the winner's honours in the sword ring, as well as the 200 gold first place prize (50 gold for second place). Sir Arthas of Suville bested Sir El Cid of Carelia in the final round, congratulations to the champion! Although this was one of the quieter tournaments, there were some complaints voiced about the relatively piteous prize, but there was loads of free ale, so, you know...

The Especially Generous
DrSeptre (40!), Gwenhwyvar, Leonora, Phibrizo, Gelic-----Godfrid, Artanis, Humberto, Oberyn, Woodrow, Christofer, Gothar, Keiichi, Jaben, Hanz, Roxas, Widukind, Woodford, Ain, Gabe, Dielo.

Well now, it seems we've discovered DrSeptre's big secret to winning all those titles. Forty rounds of ale over four days! We'd say insane, but, we rather enjoyed his generosity...and found ourselves out in the first round. Uh huh.

(disclaimer: DrSeptre is crazy skillful. Don't actually mess with him just because you're sober.)

A Wedding in the Barony
Though most participants went through the entire competition unaware, Icegate's tournament was held in honour of the marriage between Dame Gwenhwyvar Flacrest of Sale and Sir Adelric Janssen of Jerkel. We were fortunate enough to get an interview with the couple, so here we have both of their responses.

Dame Gwenhwyvar

I was in the process of defeating all of the Makarians in duels, and his turn came up. Can't say I thought much of him from the get go.

He was actually able to beat me, so I locked onto him.

Yeah, there was [a formal ceremony]. He tried to run off to lower tell, but we dragged him back. I was anxious to get it consummated, so I told Preacher Golrug to keep it short.

[Are there any plans of starting a family?] Just as soon as I get him preggers.

Yeah. Just because I'm a married woman, doesn't mean you fellows shouldn't feel free to stop by my rooms any time.

Sir Adelric

We met in the dueling ring at the main hall in Icegate. Gwen had defeated Duke Robey and stolen his codpiece. I was up to the challenge to prove I could keep mine in the arena and succeeded.

Little did I know that the first male to beat Gwenhwyvar in the duelling arena she was going to marry. It was unexpected, but I had little choice in the matter.

The marriage took place in Icegate by the Count of Uforth. I never said "I do", but in the Barony showing up in the same region is good enough for the men.

I was wounded in the consummation of the marriage. It was several days before I regained conscienceness and so it is questionable if there will be children.

The tournament for our wedding had a good turnout, but the wedding couple was rather quiet due to the drinks served. Many thanks to those that attended and made it a successful event.

Makarian courtship rituals are so mysterious...

From Sir Arthas Westfall, Champion of the Sword!

I didnt train for honor or glory i trained so i could protect the my country protect my queen and protect my lord.

I will state this if your going to train for sword fighting know the reason for why you are training and hold on to that reason. For if one day you have to take another mans life in a duel. If you trained for the right reason then even if you die you will have already won the duel.

Arthas Westfall (Knight of Dampinn)

Wise advice...mm-hmm the lady fans like philosophical type, too.
