The Finsternis family currently contains three noble brothers from Axzaloc (Atamara) who have set out into the world to find themselves and establish the family name. The family considers its prime characteristic to be the toughness that comes from their origins in barren badlands. The brothers live by a strict family code based in honor and a dislike of those who seek power for any but the noblest reasons. They have all learned to solve problems upfront, and with physical force if necessary. Consequently, they all began their careers through military means.

Klaus, is the oldest brother of the Finsternis family. He is deeply dedicated to the defense of his homeland, and is an active member of The Word. He serves Talerium as its Marshal and as the Baron of Mapaan.

Franz left Atamara for the fabled wilds of Dwilight, and has found a home there in Pian en Luries. He has dedicated himself to the eradication of the inhuman rogues that plague the border regions in Dwilight, and has achieved no little distinction in his zealous pursuit of vengeance against them. For some time, it was thought that he was the true prize of the family, but has since succumbed to "middle child syndrome" and is happy to be serving as the Commander of Pian en Luries, and an Elder in the religion he is dedicated to, The Manifest Path. Franz perished in a duel of honor at the hand of Ramiel Avis after Ramiel insulted him publicly and criticized his competence.

Claude has barnstormed the politics of the Far East Island. Becoming Duke of Ozrat less than a week after arriving in Ohnar West, he subsequently orchestrated the creation of a new realm, Toupellon, when it became apparent that Ohnar West could not provide his city and Duchy with the leadership they needed. Upon the unexpected and mysterious disappearance of Toupellon's original King, he won a tightly contested election against much more experienced opposition to claim the Crown of Toupellon. Only time will tell whether his young age will be a path to glory or the cause of a tragic burnout. What could be left to achieve for one who has accomplished so much so quickly?

Ingel is a bit of mystery. Appearing in Thalmarkin one day, he claimed that his birthright papers had been stolen and he had been forced to live as a commoner for a time before he could prove his own noble heritage.
