Origins and myths of the House de Haguns:

The House de Haguns was born through iron and fire in the badlands of the Perdan Mines. Originally pioneer miners, blacksmiths and silversmiths in the region, they amassed enough wealth to become distinguished amongst the common folk of Perdan. It's not easy to define precisely when the first Haguns ascended to nobility, but the House has been well established in the badlands for many generations.

House de Haguns, however, will never recognize that it was founded in such fashion, and reputes those to be lies perpetrated by rival and jealous nobles. It is said that the founder and direct ancestor of every Haguns, Metallicus de Haguns, was a brave warrior who had first braved a cave in Aurocastrum and slew the last dragon that inhabited the Mines. The dragon’s blood was then drunk by the forefather, the beast’s horn serving as a chalice. This imbued him and all his descendants with the divine rights of nobility, a fact well known by all peasants and nobles of sound mind in the Mines. The gold and silver that Metallicus had found the dragon guarding served then to establish the foundation of his House. Those were well represented by the Haguns coat of arms – the red blood that ennobled them, the gold and silver that enriched them, and the defiant dragon.

Despite their foundation myth, the noble House of Haguns is not known for their warrior, lords or grand achievements, but as traders and landowners hailing from lands between the mines of Aurocastrum and the town port of Pelasgia. Keeping far away from Perdanese politics and petty squabbles, the Haguns expanded their economical influence from the mining business to shipping in the East Continet.

Recently, the Haguns family was awarded the estate of Pelasgia, in the Perdan Mines, after the disappearance of it's former governor, Sir Rogos V'Orlan. Sir Orpheu de Haguns ruled the small port town in Earl Joreb deLacy's stead, before abandoning Perdan as he became disilussioned with the upper nobility, changing his banners for the Wolf of Yssrgard. After becoming the Margrave of Xavax, Lord Orpheu drowned while sailing towards a besieged Isadril, during the War with Perleone.

Across the ocean, in the continent of Dwilight, Furiae arrived at Tol Goldora with the Perdanese Free Company, running away from a marriage she did not wish. There, the young girl was awarded the Stronghold Precint in the capital of Goldenfarrow, which she ruled in Duke Solomon Greybrook's stead. Then she rose in the ranks of nobility, eventually being awarded a ladyship. After a series of unfortunate events, she one day disappeared while hunting in her barony.

Notable members:

  • Orpheu - the rising star and scion of the House de Haguns, all bets were on this young knight to bring glory to his clan. Died during the Yssrgardian War with Shadowdale, as he crossed the seas towards a besieged Isadril.
  • Furiae - Orpheu's cousin, a wild and untamed lady from the Haguns cadet branch. Running away from a marriage she did not want, she stole her father's sword and horse, as well as the bridal price that had been paid in advance and would ensure her brother's future as a knight of Perdan. Presumed dead.
  • Laurence - Furiae's younger brother, the third born in the cadet branch of House de Haguns in the Perdan Mines. After Furiae ran away from her wedding and their cousin and scion of House de Haguns, sir Orpheu's exile from Perdan, Laurence made his own way to Beluaterra fearing retaliation from other perdanese nobles and many enemies Orpheu had made, as the rest of the family was scattered through the world. He found safe haven in the Arcane Republic of Irondale, where he became a knight. Died in battle.
