Agitprop for the Congress of Democracy

Drum sounds, candles brighten, the drama begins

Narrator: Young democrats, you may find yourself a small fish in the sea of democracy. Your voice is no louder than a mouse. You feel the need to make a difference, to gain prominence, and yet you know not how. So time moves on. Then, a moment of excitement and contention arises and you yearn to lend your two piece, but you are afraid of being unheard. So you stay quiet, and time moves on. This is the same for our young democrat, Acolon, who has a very solid point to make about a major argument in his democratic realm. How is he to proceed?

Letter from Acolon Twopiece

Message sent to everyone in your realm

Nobles,

I have something to say that might be of significance for this matter.

Acolon Twopiece (Young Democrat)

Letter from Everyone Else

Message sent to everyone in your realm

Acolon,

Join the Assembly, your voice will be heard there.

Everyone Else (Established Democrats)

Narrator: Our Young Democrat has something to say and is instructed to join the Assembly. So he does.

Letter from Acolon Twopiece

Message sent to everyone in the message group “Democratic Assembly”

Assembly,

I have something to say that might be of significance for this matter. You see, I have been thinking on how to resolve this issue, and I would like to share it so that I could make a difference.

Acolon Twopiece (Young Democrat)

Narrator: Acolon awaits a response from the Democratic Assembly. Days go by and no one has acknowledged him. The issue he wanted to resolve is processed by others and ended in a way he would not have approved of. But no one asked him, he is invisible! The Assembly listens to the noble attached to a clique and has his solution hailed. A vote is had, and finished, and poor Acolon’s vote was not even counted. A week later, the very issue blows back up and causes the resignation of two very high nobles. Acolon protests out that if he was listened to, this new problem would have been avoided. Again, he is not even given a response. What does our Young Democrat do?

Letter from Acolon Twopiece

Message sent to everyone in your realm

Nobles,

I believe in Democracy, and I want my voice to be included. What must I do?

Acolon Twopiece (Young Democrat)

Narrator: The response is the same as before, join the Assembly. Acolon has already done so and has found no satisfaction. Then, a new path is open before him. He is invited to join a new establishment. One that is better organized and which values the voices of all its members. One in which there are procedures, specialized positions, and one where even the young are listened to. An institution of true democracy! This is the Democratic Congress! Led by our praised Democratic Hero! Our Young Democrat joins this unbiased, impartial group and makes his first remark.

Congressmen,

I have something to say that might be of significance for an issue that has recently come up.

Acolon Twopiece (Young Democrat)

Letter from the Congress

Message sent to everyone in the message group “Democratic Congress”

Young Democrat Acolon,

Please speak your mind and we will listen. Should you put forward a motion, we will debate and vote! For this is the Congress, where answers are found, and where Democracy reigns.

Congressmen (Congressional Democrats)

Narrator: Naturally, our Young Democrat is timid from his earlier experience with so called 'democratic groups'.

Letter from Acolon Twopiece

Message sent to everyone in the message group “Democratic Congress”

Congressmen,

I have a voice and I would like it to make a difference. If I share it, will it be heard?

Acolon Twopiece (Young Democrat)

Letter from the Congress

Message sent to everyone in the message group “Democratic Congress”

Young Democrat Acolon,

Of course! Of course! That is the whole purpose of this chamber! We are the house that harbours the Voice of Democracy. If you seek to make a difference, you should speak no where else but here.

Congressmen (Congressional Democrats)

Narrator: You see? The forum for change offered to our Young Democrat originally was inept and ineffective. Its disorder caused his voice to go unheard and overlooked. But when he joined the Congress, he met immediate response and saw the change he wished for. A telling tale that you may relate to, and should you seek the restitution of a noble democrat, then the only place to go is the Congress. Verily, it is the house of the Voice of Democracy.

Actors bow, stage lights dim, the drama has ended.
