The Moose Guard has a special part of the Moose battalions in Haji - The 2nd division of Moose Guards. It is divided in 5 battalions. This division of the unit, belongs to the Church. Instead of spending their time on patrolls on the borders, and scouting missions, they protect places people worship, or belivers of the church. The Moose Guard created by Eirik Bridgebuilder, count of Haji. He was the supreme commander, though he seldom lead them in combat (more of the pencil pusher), and therefor he was in charge of the Moose Guard division within the Church.

  • date missing* Eirik was banned from Old Grehk for gving military information to Sint. Xaia El Scamp, as the only other member of the Moose Guard, took over as Supreme Commander and Marchioness of Haji.

History

Location

The Moose and their Riders are trained in Haji. There, the Church has a temple, who is specialised in training the unit. Their training is hard and only the smartest and strongest men survive. You have to be decisive, dedicated and you have to believe in the Church.

Haji is a rather big region in Old Grehk. Originally it belonged to Ashborn. However they gave the region to Old Grehk to create a border between them and Sint. The region has about 8900 civilians and has lots of woods. It is a Northern Lowland's region.

The fort of the Moose Guard is located a few miles outside the town of Haji, in the middle of forest. The camp can't be seen until you stand right in front of it. The fort is quiet, except for a few moo's here and then. It is allso quite easy built up.It has wooden walls, and a few towers to look out. The Towers however are build in higher trees, so they remain undetected. The Camp has everything to give the soldiers a nice and confortable shrine. There is a sort of shrine in the right corner of the camp, and the barracks are in good shape and made out of stone. Every barrack has his own, small kitchen, and in every barrack there can be stationed 15 soldiers.

In the center of the camp, there is a wide open space with two flags on a post, the Old Grehkian flag and the flag of the Moose Guard, a blue flag with a moose on it, and a cross in black, with the moose guard's motto under it: Death smiles at the moose guard, the moose guard smiles back and <, and under that again: Semper Fidelis (allways faithful).

In the fort, there are a few houses. These are the houses of the officers and the mooses. Also, there is a small wooden shed, the prison. If a traitor or a spy gets caught, they will mostly end their live in that shed.

Description

The Moose Guard is a remarkable unit. If you see one on the streets, you will recognise the immediatly, and if you see it on the streets, it is likely to be your first, and last time, as they seldom walk in cities with their uniforms on, unless there is a war or a crisis. There are not many of them, it's a select club of about 80-120 (excact number cencored by commander).

The soldiers who ride the moose are dressed in light clothing. They have black boots, long grey pants and a uniform which is in khaki, for the camp Mostly they use spears and bows. Soldiers are always equipped with two spears, a bow and several arrows and a small blade, which is another thing special for the moose guard. They were the spears in the form of an 'x' on their back. The Soldiers can fight very well with spears, both in jousting and throwing them. They carry the bow on their moose. This allows them to pull their spear first, and then take their bow and arrows from the side of their moose. The bows are usefull to scare the enemy from a distance, or to shoot in a city. The soldier can decide if he wants a short or a long range bow. Their small dagger is hidden in their boot. This way, they can suprise the enemy when they are on the ground.

The Moose theirselves can be described as light scouting cavalry. As everyone knows how moose look like, you also know that they have a quiet good charge. The moose don't wear armour though, as that would decrease their ability to move quickly. The moose are fetched in Ffangor Forest or in the mountains in Jedinchel (or breeded in Haji, these are not wild though, the wild ones died out a couple of hundred years ago in Haji.).

The Moose Guards is famous for several things. Besides that they are the defenders of the Church of Estahsism, they are also very good scouts. The Moose Guard is quickly, and is a master in remaining undetected. They are loyal to those who leads them.
