Brave hero dies fighting
Today Caligus was dealt a small blow as Westmoor forces moved into Evora to pick off Caligus reinforcements to the main army.

Kazoku Cinereus, Count of Winkamus has been killed during the battle in Evora.

We send our condolences to his brave family and rumors has it he has a nephew who has stepped up to take his place as a Knight in Caligus. We wish the family well and honor.

On another note lazy Duke Albion will now have to appoint a lord in Winkamus

King Dobromir falls ill to plague
Quite suddenly King Dobromir started to feel quite ill. Healers immediately rushed to attend to him to what seemed to be a very bad case of plague. Many nobles in Caligus were dismayed seeing their King disappear. Over the course of a week re-percussions of the Kings absence was noted by many in Caligus.

There were many in Caligus who spoke and prayed for the king to recover. Here is some of the RPs in Caligus.

Caligan_Courier/November'10/KingFallsIll

We are happy distraught to report that the King is on the road to recovery and he is currently back tending to regions. We wish him well hopefully a relapse

Diocese of Aix and Ibladesh have a spy within Caligus
Lately any realm wide discussion in Caligus has been turning up elsewhere. It is unknown exactly who the spy is but alot less is being said within Caligus to prevent the wrong information going through.

Seemingly Ibladesh fanatics dont even like being discussed in any sort of negative way and Pontifex Sinted has made large and multiple complaints about what was being discussed in Caligus.

Obviously this blatant lack of trust does not bode well for any alliance. For now it seems not much action is being taken. Time will tell however if that changes.

Small turnout in Perdan Tournament
Perdan Queen has decided to hold a tournament. The amount of nobles arriving at the grounds was rather small likely due to the many wars being waged.

Their ruler Queen Balkeese stated the following

Letter from Balkeese Indirik (11 days, 16 hours ago)

Message sent to the Rulers of East Continent (8 recipients)

Rulers of the East Island,

Perdan would like to welcome all nobles of the island to come feast with us, and demonstrate their prowess of arms in the great city of Perdan. We therefore announce the holding of a grand tournament, open to all. Come show us your skill with the sword, or perhaps the lance. The winners will be greatly rewarded for their diligence at arms, nor will the runners-up be forgotten.

The event will be held at the new tournament grounds in Perdan city, in seven days. I trust this will be enough time for even the most distant of nobles to arrive in plenty of time to celebrate before the final contests at arms are held.

Lady Balkeese Indirik

Queen of Perdan

The tournament is now over congratulations to the victorious those who spend gold at the academy instead of the good for their realm

Tournament Report

The tournament in Perdan is over. 83 nobles from 9 realms fought and drank. There was a swordfighting and a jousting contest.

Sir Noah Capet (Noble of Fontan) won the swordfighting tournament (Sir Krabat van Belhanka (Knight of Sirion, Sirion) came second place). The jousting contest was won by Netaxia Scarfist (Knight of Ibladesh, Ibladesh) (Second place: Sir Christoff Stormbringer, Marquess of Tota, Marshal of the The Army of Ramsus Protectors).

Nearly Caught but safely re-located
Due to agents from multiple realms our old headquarters was getting too dangerous so the last week has been spent on re-locating (OOC : I moved country) We are sure our new location is much harder to find and we will continue publishing pointless articles.

Doicese of Aix elects worst Caligan Traitor in History!

Yesterday the Diocese of Aix elected Richard Telrunya,

Archbishop and Treasurer of Diocese of Aix, Ambassador of Diocese of Aix.  This man is a man previously known as Arfeniel the biggest traitor in the history of Caligus who singled handed almost destroyed Caligus completely.

A short decription is given here by a one of Caligus most respected members in history Cartor Curs

Caligus/Arfeiniel_the_Traitor

Detailed Storyline up to Richard’s (Arfeniel’s) betrayal.

Caligus was in a long war struggling war against Yssaria which went back and forth for years.  Yssaria always the more wealthy boasting better regions and an extra city.  Gwynyth had been ruling Caligus for quite some time and many nobles including current King Dobromir and Duke Cuthbert were some of her most loyal followers.   The struggled continued on with Yssaria gaining ground and Caligus claiming it back until Itorunt appeared.

Itorunt was a rich realm more powerful then Yssaria was and with the added strength Caligus was field 2 ½ times less the army of its enemies.  Caligus steadily grew smaller and smaller and seeked terms for surrender.  Queen Gwynyth attempted to negotiate with Eleran, King of Ysarria at the time for peace.  At the time King Eleran said there would be no peace and a noble of Caligus decided to have talks with King Eleran himself.  His name was Vlad.  Vlad came back to Caligus that if Gwynyth stepped down Yssaria would make peace with Caligus and thus he gained support of many and Gwynyth decided to step down.

Vlad immediately changed things in Caligus appointing a new High Marshal and inducted his “right-hand-man” Richard (Arfeiniel) as banker of Caligus.

Shortly after current King Dobromir re-appeared in Caligus after 3 months absence.  He found a new King and heard of the promises.  Vlad them came with news that Caligus would have to give up their capital and only city Domus to achieve peace.  With no other talks and this doom setting Caligus previous leadership including Gwynyth, Cuthbert and Dobromir and quite a few others held talk regarding Vlad’s rise to power through false promises and were considering taking action.

Soon after Vlad announced he was going away and wanted to leave Caligus in the hands of Richard (Arfeiniel) so the previous rulership decided to back Dobromir as King with Richard running also with Vlad’s blessings to the realm.  The voting ended quite close with Dobromir receiving ~10% more votes.  Richard then decided to mock King Dobromir every chance possible and also not reveal any diplomatic information he claimed that Vlad had personally given to him.

After various insults the council wanted him stripped but King Dobromir asked he be left there and just be warned.  So Richard was still left on the council.  He had been banker the whole time from the beginning of Vlad’s rulership till now.

Shortly after Richard decided to completely sabotage Caligus which was a 4 or 5 region realm (Domus, Scio, Nascot, Winkamus and Aestus) at the time.  He gathered all the food in one place, sold it to enemies leaving every region starving 1-2 (Winkamus and Aestus) thus turning rogue and also took with him a huge lump of money the amount is not exactly known.  Caligus was left in a horrendous state fighting near impossible odds and a death sentence.

Basically after this it is a miracle Caligus lived through it but me as a writer will be damned if Richard is left on a throne of a neighboring region.

We hope our government does what is right and cleanses the world from Richard Telrunya, Archbishop and Treasurer of Diocese of Aix, Ambassador of Diocese of Aix the most wretched person to step foot in Caligus.

Westmoor war update
The attack 5 days ago on Troyes was the start of Caligus first major attack on Westmoor soil. Caligus troops amassed in large amounts angered by repeated attacks from Westmoor infiltrators and attempted raids by eager nights.

On the eve of the first battle Westmoor tried to hold their ground to no avail. Less reinforcements arrived then expected while nearly Caligus's full army marched into Troyes. The odds were the following

Total:

31 Caligus attackers (761 Inf, 75 MI, 228 Arch, 219 Cav, 160 SF)

23 Westmoor defenders (531 Inf, 129 Arch, 35 Cav, 25 SF)

Total combat strengths: 17779 vs. 9460

Outnumbered Westmoor was slaughtered on the field only managing to damage 3K Caligus forces while losing their whole army. Very little fled for their life and many were wounded. The remenants of the army retreated back to Westmoor city.

Over the next few days there were a few small skirmishes in Poitiers the first assault being just the King and his brother special forces against 3 Westmoor nobles including judge Gregor. Westmoor was again mopped up quickly this time due to superior men. A few days later Westmoor launched an attack on Poitiers with some Caligus forces failing to retreat they got picked off.

With new inspired cofidence yeah right Westmoor amassed once more and launched an attack to hopefully push back Caligus forces from Troyes. The battle arrived and the following appeared

Total:

14 attackers (261 Inf, 192 Arch, 425 other)

30 defenders (656 Inf, 45 MI, 153 Arch, 101 Cav, 87 SF)

Total combat strengths: 6287 vs. 13032

Military commanders in Caligus were convinced that Westmoor were not moving due to barely over 50% of Westmoor forces in range actually moving. It was a very pathetic defence of their homeland.

Troyes continues to be under assault and the local populace has spreading rumors of rebellion due to growing concerns of Westmoor inadequacy to protect them. Scouts have it Westmoor forces are once again growing and a last ditch assault to save Troyes is expected. Whether they will be able to or not shall soon be told on its own.

New Ruler same Westmoor
Considering the vast amount of new faces leading as of late the odds are a decent one should be elected eventually. King Jor Tanos was recently elected as ruler and the sad truth is he is completely oblivious to Westmoor politics. It seems every ruler that is elected decided to do their own thing and simply not inform anyone about it. Merely a couple of days after getting elected Jor Tanos is already guilty of that act.

It seems before the election good King Dobromir the sneaky bastard and former Queen Micna were deciding to have some talks and it seems the treaty below was discussed. Now it is known that the treaty found its way to Westmoor and Micna made the following statement in Westmoor itself.

Letter from Micna Kiri-Jolith

For the realm's pleasure.

I have been in communication with King Dobromir for quite a while now. Mostly banter and communication in order to better understand each other, and to resolve our differences.

He has been kind enough to pass this on to me. So Westmoor as a whole might know, and more specifically so I might know.

But first, allow us to review some statements our new King has made.

I cannot promise Royal Council positions to anyone, former monarch or otherwise. I will not seek the Council's change as so far they have proven a relatively effecive body. Former monarchs will, however, always have my ear. I will always take their words into consideration as advisers.

Not to mention that it would be as if we had no honor. We are not Westmoor if we sell out our integrity!

And my Personal Favorite.

Westmoor is fortunate that many of its number were amongst the Kingdom's founders. They deserve our greatest respect and thanks.

And now my friends, bear all of that in mind, whilst I share this revelation with you.

I hold in my hand, and am sending to all of you... A copy of the peace treaty that our King sent to Caligus, a day BEFORE he was elected.

Report from Dobromir Menethil
Greetings Micna,

Just since we were talking new ruler decided to offer me this before he was elected. Obviously it wont be accepted.

To ensure peace, economic prosperity, and honor across the Continent, the Kingdom of Westmoor and the Kingdom of Caligus hereby sign a treaty of perpetual peace.

The Kingdom of Caligus does swear on its honor to withdraw their troops and infiltrators while respecting the borders of the Kingdom of Westmoor as a fellow sovereign nation.

The Kingdom of Westmoor does swear on its honor to withdraw their troops and infiltrators while respecting the borders of the Kingdom of Caligus. In addition the former Queen of Westmoor, Micna of the House of Kiri-Jolith, is hereby prohibited from holding lordship over any of the Kingdom of Westmoor's crown territories or serve as a member of its Royal Council so as to appease the Kingdom of Caligus while not threatening to upset the territorial or bureaucratic integrity of the Kingdom of Westmoor.

Dobromir Menethil
King of Caligus

Of course, this is a direct attack against me. And I have expected as much for quite some time. Yet, does it not seem curious that the Good King neglected to inform us of the details of the treaty? Especially when it pertained so directly?

Yes, I understand, a great number of you likely agree with the stipulation. And be that as it may, perhaps I should have been informed that I would have my future effectively ended in Westmoor?

But wait... I ask you recall the statements above, and recall that this treaty was sent BEFORE his election.

So his comment on previous monarchs having his ear? A Lie.
His comment that the founders deserved respect and thanks? A Lie.
His Integrity? A Lie.

No, I am not rebelling. No, I am not publically protesting, as we've all seen the results of THAT. I am merely letting the Realm as a whole know the actions it's ruler has taken behind their collective backs.

And the consideration this ruler gives to his subjects. I may be the one he attempts to barter today. And again, as the day's scapegoat, I expected that. But mark this well, as Good King Jor has shown his integrity and honor, and tomorrow may be your day. Be Prepared.

Aequitas Veritas,

Lady Micna Kiri-Jolith (Dame of Troyes)

To say the least King Jor's reign in Westmoor has got off to a rocky start. Hopefully for Westmoor he will improve highly unlikely

Westmoor offers "fair" treaty.........
Soon after King Corwin stepped down and a new ruler was elected the following treaty was proposed to Caligus by Westmoor.

The diplomat Sir Jor Tanos, Count of Poitiers, Ambassador of Westmoor has brought a new proposal for a treaty.

Treaty of Poitiers

Peace Treaty (military) treaty with Westmoor.

Treaty Text:

To ensure peace, economic prosperity, and honor across the Continent, the Kingdom of Westmoor and the Kingdom of Caligus hereby sign a treaty of perpetual peace.

The Kingdom of Caligus does swear on its honor to withdraw their troops and infiltrators while respecting the borders of the Kingdom of Westmoor as a fellow sovereign nation.

To say the least the treaty was proposed by the ambassador who was shortly after elected as King of Westmoor. However, the treaty did not go down well in Caligus compiling one negative comment after another.

Pure mental case detected
As you all know we have been taking in more requests for articles. Immediately I was brought to regret the decision with the following message which requires no editing to even bring my point across.

You receive a letter which was just tossed by a woman passing by it was folding up really badly and unconventionally to try and glide across the air. It hit the muddy ground a few feet away. We proceeded to see what it was. The letter said the following

'Write about the power of love and friendship that Magical Kylen is spreading through her love-sprinkled colorful star-shaped cookies!

She's about five feet of pure stupidity, has shiny golden hair, pale white skin, red eyes, and claim to be ambiguously elfin. We're not sure whether she's an elf or not. Actually we're sure she isnt but anyways.

Having finished reading the letter we noticed the paper was also covered in a flammable substance. We proceeded to burn it.

Reports have it that Kylen is currently visiting King Dobromir. We have no clue how he has had the patience to not arrest her on site and ship her right back to Sirion gagged to stop the nag.

We could go on and on but we will stop here. Point proven rather easily we will just feel sorry for our King's sanity if he has to deal with this much longer.

Marriage in Diocese Of Aix
Recently there has been a big marriage in the DOA. The leader Aeolus Ironsun, Archbishop of Diocese of Aix, Duke of Aix. Obviously his long title speaks for itself his influence greed. The bride Lady Tsukiko D'Anglos, Follower of Tersea of Church of Ibladesh, Countess of Lorient who is a very elegant and beautiful woman actually we've never seen her

We congratulate the couple wedded by none other then Pontifex Sinted. Reports of the ceremony can be found below for those interested.

Terror in Sirion
Lately there has been rumors circulating that a Knight from Sirion presumably Sir Elisedd Deytheur has in a very short span of time rules over the lands of Commonyr, Al Amarah and Negev.

Little to say Sir Elisedd was extremely fond of the population. The first thing that was done was all military buildings in each region got dismantled razed to promote cheaper new structures its not like he wanted to destroy the regions as much as possible right?

Anyways, Commonyr was stolen back Fontan to the dismay elation of the populace. They mourned cheered at the loss of their Lord tyrant

Shortly after Al Amarah was graced same generous treatment from Sir Elisedd everything was pulled down for imminent rebuilding. Lord Elise was thus thrown out of office.

Third time lucky? Nahhh...yet again he took control of Negev and decided to see the effects of explosives on the military buildings. Lets say they are now a pile of rubble...and the populace decided to return to a priest from Fontan.

Notice to all peasants :

Whatever you do do NOT accept this man as your lord. Results will be destroyed building short stints and huge losses in wealth and morale. Many many peasants have commited suicide under his rule. We advise mass immigration if hes with 5 miles of the region and headed in your direction.

Caligus Cancels all Food trades
Reports have it that our esteemed idiotic King Dobromir has decided to cancel all food deals with every realm. It seems that after this Caligus was also with with a drought so by some spark of genius dumb luck Caligus still has the extra food to feed all its regions.

Here is the message from King Dobromir

Rulers,

I know this isnt part of my job description but I have officially cancelled all deals with all realms regarding the selling of food after the current one. Upon looking at it Caligus was gaining 5 gold per 100 bushels which means we are better off just not selling.

Obviously we will still be producing excess food and are looking to sell but Caligus is not bound by any treaty to sell food.

I apologise for any inconvenience this will cause anyone just giving you a heads up. I will contact realms who we have had deal with specifically shortly.

October results
Dear me,

Sadly even though I had a very late start to the courier in October somehow yet again more free copies then any other reporter sold. To worsen the failure of the month. Even both Sirion's newspapers failed to sell a combined total of the Couriers (665) Sirions (145 + 516 = 661). Therefore we regard the October edition as a complete failure.

However better will be done this month. Readers who dare pick this months articles up will be bored to death choking on their own saliva as they fall to sleep thus reducing the amount of free articles sold.
