News from Ubent

http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/marker.gif News report, November 28

http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/endbw.gif Even though there was 'only' 1,000 gold to claim, the tournament hold in Ubent recently gave a chance to glitter to no less than 214 troop leaders from 11 realms. Once again twelve troop leaders from Caligus defended the national honour. Only three of them didn't survive the first round, with three more falling out in the second. Zelos stayed put in round three. The five TL's remaining were Sylkvor, Disciple of Judas, Veni, Diego and Vlad -- all managed to get past round four.

Unfortunately, they lost in round five where 27 participants struggled to keep themselves in the race. Winner of the tournament was Leon from Fontan. Best Caligean in the jousting competition proved to be Cartor, who survived till the fourth round. Winner there was Screndt of Perdan, congratulations. An honourable mention goes to San of Itorunt, who insisted in being listed in our Caligan Courier. He was pitifully kicked out in round one, respectively, round two. http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/end.gif

Caligan Courier Concised

http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/marker.gif News report, November 18

http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/endbw.gif There have been some rumours going around that the head editor of the Itorunt Informer is calling your beloved news paper unreliable and even deceitful. Mmm? Yes, that Itorunt Informer. That scrap delivered to you every month, which you can't even use to light your fireplace with. No, that can't be, isn't it? I was exactly thinking the same, dear reader. http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/end.gif

http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/endbw.gif Only two days ago, Perdan organized a giant tournament in honour of the recently achieved peace. No less than 271 troop leaders from every corner of the East Continent showed up to contest each other in conquest of 700 gold pieces. With 17 Caligeans participating, our realm stood up well: the second round boosted seven colleague troop leaders.

Four of them also shined in the third round and qualified for the fourth. Although Cartor and PitFighter were defeated there by a close shave, Vlad and Zelos managed to maintain their winning streak by eliminating Doc's Biatch, respectively, a fellow Yssarian. Unfortunately, both of these brave warriors lost one round later. Highest ranked in the jousting competition was Kamekaze, who ultimately lost 1 to 2 in round four. http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/end.gif

Cartor Curs speaks aloud

http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/marker.gif Interview, November 17

It has been quite some time since our last edition, mainly due to the relaxed contacts now the peace treaty has really started to work. The exact time for an interview with Cartor Curs, Arch Priest of Caligus, we thought.

Good afternoon, Cartor Curs, I'm happy to have you with us today.

The pleasure is all mine.

To get started immediately: there have been quite some scandals last weeks, concerning your position as Arch Priest in Caligus.

There were? Really? This isn't some kind of newspaper stunt you're pulling right? (laughs) Enlighten me.

Today, for example, you were even accused of receiving too much tax money, by Vlad, not a unfamiliar name in Caligus and surroundings...

Oh yes, that's true, I was. Well, it's a fairly simple case. Once, weeks, if not a month, ago, I held the TO-unit. Logically eighty Domus Home Guard cost loads of gold, and I needed the extra tax point to manage. As it appears, Gwynyth had not changed it until recently.

And I do ask a lot of money, by the way, but that's becuase I have a unit of 30 men with 90% cohesion, imagine the costs, more than 30 gold each week, I can't pay that on my own, and placing them as militia is useless in Domus, right? So I was waitnig until we got Meuse to drop them.

Still, you seem to get criticized more, and more regularly, nowadays than you were used to — also remember the Jacque2-incident. Is the average Caligean losing his faith in you? Haven't you been judge for too long now?

Ah, Jacque2, yes. We all know how he felt. Non-Caligean. For some reason he thought that as elder member of Caligus he had the right to make decisions and criticize everyone. He didn't understand why he got fined, because he clearly thought he was above the law. In matter of fact, I heard that Jacque2 got fined in Irombrozia in Beluaterra for 100 gold. Guess for what? Yes, for abusive language against the King, the General, the Judge ánd the Banker.

But you don't deny interest in your person is declining? Doesn't other, perhaps younger, Caligeans deserve a chance?

It's not true that interest is declining, at least, I haven't noticed that. As a matter of fact, I actually got a lot of positive remarks on my judgement upon Jacque2. And for other matters too. My support still seems to be relatively high, however, most people prefer to tell me personally. I do want to give the younger Caligeans a chance. As a matter of fact, I have even told the council that I agreed fully with Doombringer's plan to get more younger TLs involved in the council and other positions. I'm actually playing with the idea, to introduce a second council, that consists of younger TLs only, so they can learn and contribute in a better and more direct way.

You already mentioned Caligus receiving Meuse; the region transfers progress steady now. How do you see Caligus' role in the newly forged political sitation of the East Continent?

Critical, to put it in one word. Caligus will either be the center of all new wars, or it will be in the center of diplomatic negotiations. Doombringer has already managed to achieve plenty of progress, and will stay in close contact with the leaders of the other entities.

Something else then; despite your fourth round in most recent's tournament — congratulations on that —, you lost many duels in an informal duelling contest held in Caligus some weeks ago. Is everything going well in your personal life? We haven't heard anything of Erica in months if I remember well, for example.

Are you kidding me? (laughs) We're fine, we're really fine. Erica in fact has been shopping around in Domus trying to get every single piece of what she calls "Caligean Legacy" — I call it "Excuses to spend money" — with us to Partora. And about that duel I lost against you, frankly, I have achieved much progress in the skill of swordfighting, about 10% my tutors told me. I'm not done yet. (smiles)

Nice to hear that. Thanks for the interview! http://www.kagaherkproductions.com/end.gif
The current situation
After the regions of Supra and Aestus were transferred a couple of weeks ago, Caligus had to take the initiative itself to take-over Scio — in an attempt to create a safe passage for it's people. Not long ago, the region of Meuse was given to Caligus by Perdan, promptly followed by Nascot's handover to our allies.

Upcoming transfers should include Mulhouse, followed by the city of Partora. Afterwards, Caligus will abandon Domus and Scio to Yssaria, ending the region handover period.

In the meanwhile new troop leaders arrive from foreign countries, with others leaving for other destinations. At the moment of speaking, Caligus still counts fourty eight noble souls.
