History
The Brilliant Armour was commissioned by Tildor Darksun Family several decades ago near Washford in Atamara. It became the family relic of the Darksuns for three generations before Epnoch Darksun's eventful expedition to Dwilight. The Brilliant Armour was lost after the Damion invasions that wrecked the Ancient Northern Kingdoms of Nifel, Springdale and Virovene.
Recovery
The armour was cherished for years by monsters, brutes and the undead as they swept over Dwilight in the vaccuum left after the Daimon invasions. When Rohk Darksun finally came of age, he vowed to retrieve it. He spent months searching for it's whereabouts asking historians, scribes, scholars and sages as to what became of his heritage. He searched the areas around Nifelheim and Muspelheim to no avail. Finally, he began to search the caves surrounding the fortress of Nifelhold.
In the deep, dank recesses of a cave he managed to see the glint of steel from his torchlight. No sooner did he move towards the object a roar erupted from above. A huge monster jumped from a ledge above nearly onto the head of Rohk. Stunned, Rohk took several steps back, falling over his own feet and throwing the sputtering torch to a corner. He quickly drew his sword and pushed himself to his feet. The monster, distracted at first by the torchlight, was beginning to move towards Rohk.
The scaly beast seemed impervious to steel. Blows glanced off its hide, Rohk was not as well protected. He dodged as many blows as he could, but at one point a curved talon ripped through his light armour and separated some of the flesh on his chest from his rib cage. The wound was nearly fatal. Rohk roared in agony and the beast was taken aback. Switching the sword to his other hand, Rohk fought on. The beast temporarily unable to contend with his fury. Another swipe from the talon laden hand caused so much force that Rohk's sword, a gift from his mother, to be ejected from his grip and buried in the stone ceiling. The whole cave rumbled.
Rohk sensed the danger. The ledge that the monster had been resting on was perched most precariously. The sword and the force associated with it had disrupted the balance of the rock, it was beginning to shift. Nearly crippled, Rohk positioned the monster beneath this teetering mass. Quickly the ledge collapsed and crushed the massive beast below tonnes of rock. Rohk was able to retrieve the armour and take it to a sage for identification. His sword still remains embedded in the ceiling of the cave.
