Military Guidelines for Avenor

1 - Guidelines for Recruitment Centers

These are our targets. Don't accept less. Any existing RC that doesn't meet this standard needs to be torn down and replaced with higher spec ones, but if you do want to keep an existing RC that doesn't quite meet the standard, then ask the General if it needs to be torn down.

• 1. In general, don't accept a score less than 55%. That means Training, Weapons and Armour all at 55% or higher.
• 2. All Mixed Infantry must have Range 3 ie the Maximum possible.
• 3. All Archers must have Range 4 ie the Maximum possible.
• 3. All Ranged Special forces must have Range 4 as a minimum, it would be even better to have Range 5 ie the Maximum possible.
• 5. All RCs must be expanded to maximum size. Rurals size 2, Townslands size 3, Cities size 4.
• 6. All Rurals should build at least 3 RCs, Townslands and Cities should build more.

2 - The Chain of Command

The military hierarchy of Avernus is as follows:

   His Highness, the High King
   The Lord Commander
   Marshals
   Vice-Marshals

This chain of command establishes the order of authority and responsibility. Each rank has power over all those below it, and is only accountable to those above it.

3 - Responsibilities

The duties of the Lord Commander are:

   to formulate a general military strategy to achieve the goals of the kingdom
   to coordinate with allied armies and combatants
   to preside over the military justice system and to decide if a case should be presented to the Lawspeaker

The duties of the Marshals are:

   to carry out the Lord Commander's orders
   to gather, rally and move their respective armies
   to set the battle tactics and command staff settings and to keep the standing orders up to date

The duties of the Vice-Marshals are:

   to ensure if the Marshal's orders are followed
   to assist the Marshal in his duties
   to replace the Marshal in case he is wounded or otherwise incapacitated

The duties of the regular troop leaders are:

   to provide scout reports for the military leadership
   to regularly train their troops
   to repair and maintain their troops' equipment

4 - Military Justice System

Every military leader can (and should!) report misconduct by his subordinates to the Lord Commander, who is then required to fairly assess the case. If the accusations are deemed justified, they will be presented to the Lawspeaker for a final verdict. If the Lord Commander considers the allegations to be baseless, no further action may take place.

The sole exception to this process is a case mounted against the Lord Commander. In this event, the High King alone has to decide whether the accusations are justified and should be presented to the Lawspeaker.
