This page is OOC!

Because of the large scope of this collaborative effort, there are some required guidelines which need to be abided by. These guidelines are meant only to guide your decision making and the ultimate decision is up to you.

Creating your own article

All journalists are encouraged to write their own articles.

  1. You can do this by amending the current edition or issue of the Atamaran Advocate.
  2. The style is to place newest articles on top.
  3. To write a new article, refer to Template:Atamaran Advocate Main template page; instructions are contained on how to format inputs.
  4. Writers are encouraged to check their spelling (British and US spelling accepted) and grammar as well as their punctuation.

Citation of sources

To backup your reporting, a citation or indication of reference is strongly encouraged. This means, displaying the source of the quote.

  1. Create a subpage in the current edition or issue, with the date of the article as well as the title of your article. For example: February '07 issue/22 Torin
  2. Inside the subpage, indicate the date of the reception of your source (letter or roleplay). Then use Template:Quotation to place the quote and the author.
  3. In your article on the newpaper, after the quote, cite your source. Refer to Template:Reference.
NOTE: because the players of BattleMaster comes from different backgrounds, their English may not be advanced. It is ultimately up to you where you edit these typo-filled, grammatically incorrect or poorly punctuated speeches, letters or roleplays. If you do wish to, then you must attain the essence of the original. Misconstruing intentions are against the spirit of the game.

Editing other articles

There may be an existing article which addresses the same issue you wish to write on. It is encouraged that you do not write duplicates of the same events.

  • Instead you may edit the other author's article with additional information or general betterment. Only if a substantial of the word inclusion is yours, should you list yourself as an author of the article.
  • Minor editions (i.e. spelling) do not require authorship.

Creating new issue

You may be the first contributor to the fortnightly newspaper. If this is the case, you are encouraged to create the page by following the same convention as seen on here.

Bias and Impartiality

Impartiality remains the only viable method that this internationally run newspaper can be run. Therefore, we request that all submitted articles be based on verifiable facts (empirically). While good writing is certainly encouraged, the use of rhetoric (rhetorical question and loaded words) are dissuaded.
