The Siege of Dark Citadel, Day 1

An account by Evil Revan, General of Assassins



The victory at Dark Citadel seemed nothing short of a miracle for the Assassins. But it was no miracle that saved us, it was pure bravery, friendship, and loyalty to the extent that is rarely seen among nobles. We stood there, our small force against a Wetham army twice our size. Everyone among us was ready to face our death rather than leave, so we fought like it was our last battle. The Wetham army broke against our walls, cut down by the steady hands of our archers and pierced by our swords. Their disciplined army was reduced to a mob, and we tore through them like a dagger. But the Wethams just kept coming, most of our units were either killed or routed after an hour. In the end, when all hope seemed lost, I could make out through the red haze Innocent, standing in the midst of it all showering death down upon our enemies. He did not fear enemy arrows and spears, he stood atop the battlements, bow in hand, a testament to the bravery of the Guild. When he gave the signal our few scattered infantry and nobles came together and charged from the walls, slaughtering what remained of the enemy troops.
