Due to the accidental release of a horde of Shiverwood Squirrels in heat into the press room a few weeks ago we have not been able to bring you any new editions of the Asgard informer recently. But now that all of that mess has been sorted out let's have a quick recap of recent events in the north. Last week the armies of Norland launched a series of assaults against Mansbridge with the intent of weakening its defenses. All these assaults were repulsed by the Ithilian forces with heavy casualties including the death of the famous hero Baron birdy spiliz of Hernepool. A festival was thrown in honor of the great hero's ascension into Valhalla while Minas Ithil's army pursued the retreting Norland forces into Hernpoole and occupied Elost and looted the region, adding insult to injury. After a close contest for the next lord of Hernpoole Dany Ballentstein was announced by Duke Gimlack to be the new Baron of Hernepool today. Shortly after this announcement word spread across the continent of a battle between Norland's federated allies Barony of Makar and Minas Ithil ending in a minor Ithilian victory. When questioned about the attack Sordnaz Dagger, Dictator of the Barony responded that the it was the Barony's General Edgar, Baron of Jerkel that ordered the assault and that he had no ability to stop him. The Ithilians and their allies quickly cried foul at the entrance of the Barony into the one on one war despite frequent hints at war by Sordnaz after a priest of Magna Serpaenism was caught preaching in Norland, a violation of the same treaty that Minas Ithil now claims the Barony broke. Norland's officials have been quick to denounce the attack and ask for the withdrawal of Barony troops from the war in fear of being perceived as unhonorable for "violating" the treaty. However Norland's Thane Jarl R'guard Da Hadez,Baron of Shiverwood also announced that he will not allow this opportunity to be passed up and will continue fighting the Ithilians while attempting to convince the Barony's General to withdraw. At the same time Falasan is claiming that the barony's entrance into the war violates their treaty with Eston despite the fact that Eston did not in any way aid the Barony soldiers. Apparently Falasan has been preparing itself for war lately with the excuse that a raiding party was coming down from the Barony to attack them, yet another case of the dishonorable attempting to make themselves put as righteous even as they prepare to rip apart the treaties they so desperately hide behind.

The following statement is the personal opinion of the editor and does not reflect the official views of the government of Norland

Although the entrance of the Barony into this war has caused a diplomatic mess this writer would like to gives his sincerest thanks to all of the Barony troops that sacrificed their lives defending Elost and looks forward to sharing a drink with them when this whole incident has been straightened up.

Yesterday the armies of Norland finally managed to breach the walls of Mansbridge. Many men have fallen trying to achieve this goal and many died achieving it with the heroes Anita nesa and Helfing Ehrenstein, both knights of Brackhead, dying in the first successful assault on Mansbridge made by Norland since it was stolen from us months ago. The viking warriors of Norland showed no mercy to the hated Ithilian militia that had for so long oppressed the people of Mansbridge and sent so many brave sons of Norland to their deaths, wiping them out almost to a man. Norland's forces then set about the task of damaging the walls of Mansbridge and looting the local bastion of the sun worshipers, making sure to spare the populace of Mansbridge who are still citizens of Norland.

Today marks a great turning point of the war. After countless sieges and the loss of thousands of brave viking warrior's lives Mansbridge was finally liberated by Norland following a short period of occupation. Finally the daunting fortress has returned to its rightful place among Norlands central defenses and Melmoor is expected to follow suit soon enough. By the end of the month Norland will have regained all the territories lost to Minas Ithil during the war's bleakest times. There was great rejoicing as the citizens of Mansbridge once again pledged their loyalty to the banner of Norland following the ousting of all Ithilian sympathizers from the region by Duke Fenrig's men in a bloody battle that left several dead and wounded in the town center of Mansbridge but resulted in a massive uprising of support from Mansbridge's citizens as they realized they no longer need fear the oppression of the tyrant Dead Angel 3 ever again. Although the war is far from over everyone in Norland counts this as a great victory over our larger foe.

On a related note Norland won a moral victory today when Sir Branimir Sparrowhead captured the Shiny Shield of the Ancients from Minas Ithil's King Dead Angel 3 after it was discarded during a recent route of Ithilian forces from Mansbridge.

Recently Norland experienced a severe blow when the region of Elost was conquered once again by the blood thirsty Ithilians and the armies of Norland were bested in the field while trying to get end the takeover. In further news the realms of Carelia, Tara, the Cagilan Empire, Caergoth and Suville have gone to war with Ash Sea Islands and the protectorate of Magnus following the latter's radi on talerium lands. Even with the aid of a small detachment of Ashlantean nobles, Riverholm was easily overwhelmed by substantial assaulting forces. It seems that soon ASI's puppet realm will be wiped off te map and it's lands divided amongst Suville and Caergoth, good news for the followers of the Way of the Hammer that have been so long oppressed by the snake charmers.
