The Coming of Darkness (1013-08-06)

After a short and sudden decline, the cult of the Blinded God collapsed earlier this week. Whilst details are hard to come by, it is believed that the acolytes of the cult had become increasingly agitated as their priests suddenly departed the world in mysterious circumstances. Although their faith had not been shaken with the loss of Prophet Remi Solari, or even the loss of his deputy, High Priest Calif Grayham shortly thereafter, the disappearance of their last priest a fortnight ago was simply too much to swallow. Taking it as a sign that the Blinded God had renounced them into darkness, the peasant followers abandoned the Blinded God in their droves.

There were reports of rejoicing in some areas of Oritolon upon the collapse of the cult, particularly in strongholds of the Path of Chivalry. It remains to be seen whether this will mean a rapprochement between those nobles who had once renounced the Path for the tenets of the Blinded God or whether this shall instead lead to the further encroachment of Shadowism. Although Oritolon has had a complicated relationship with Shadowism in the past, that has not stopped its increasing prevalence across swathes of south western Oritolon in recent times.

A Noble Death (1013-08-06)

The titanic conflict taking place between Oritolon and Lukon showed no signs of abating after the latest battle between the former federates. The Army of Oritolon conducted a daring attack on Rola Sierrie in an effort to disrupt Lukon's efforts to stabilise the region following a takeover. Although the raid did not bring victory, it did bring the first noble casualty of the war on Lukon's side. The renowned Lukon hero Eragon Thirdlight fell in battle to no less a remarkable personage than our very own Prime Minister and Duke of Oritolon, Pyran Bas-Tyra. The subsequent funeral of Eragon was an occasion marked with sadness across much of the Colonies. Though sympathy was in short supply in Oritolon given the abhorrent and dishonourable manner in which Lady Silks Noble was recently executed in Portion.
