The following is a letter written by Eckosaber Twinblade to the realm of Irombrozia on 30/12/2009. Preserved for posterity, so all may know that Robert Wilson is a player who tried to win BattleMaster and betrayed a covenant of trust with all those players who joined his realms, in good faith, not realising that unless they followed his grand plan, they would get nowhere.

Robert Wilson, I regret that I showed kindness to a single one of your characters, I regret that I ever fought alongside them, I regret that I ever had faith in them. But most of all, I regret how your selfish actions in Irombrozia and Aquilegia have all but condemned both realms to death, snuffing out the fun for so many of your fellow BattleMaster players. Your characters made the difference between accepting peace and fighting a war of annihilation for Irombrozia. Likewise, your characters were about all that Aquilegia had.

What more is there now to say, other than that this game is immeasurably better off without you. No-one shall mourn your passing. Goodbye Robert, and good riddance.

As the creator of the realm (Aquilegia) that had been most severely affected by the actions of this player, I will make a brief note here. I might not always be the most polite player, nor the most civil, which is part of the reason why I took heat in Aquilegia, but cheating is a boundary that none of us should ever cross. I will be first to say that in many games, you play to win, but Battlemaster is not such a game. And even in those ultra-competitive games where you want to win at all costs, there is no gain in cheating. In fact, why even play if you are just going to break the rules and set yourself above the others? The joy of competition is in relying purely on your own superior skill, and a little luck from time to time. In cheating, you cheapen the experience for yourself, and for everyone else. I feel bad for the 4 players left in Aquilegia, who did not manage to extract themselves to other realms in time. Hopefully they are not too discouraged by the utterly wrong actions you conducted, Robert Wilson.

Dear BattleMaster,

I have grown tired of the game. I no longer have the excitement I used to feel when playing, the urgency to play on a timely basis, nor that feeling of unease when my characters engage in large battles. However, this used to be a major distraction for me and my studies in school, so for the New Year I will be giving up BattleMaster again, but this time permanently.

Now before I go, I have a few confessions to make. I have been playing multiple accounts. In fact, I have been playing a total of 8 accounts, with a total of 25 characters for 6 months now. I have used a simple IP masking site, and I am quite shocked I have went this long undiscovered.

Though I am guilty of multi-cheating, I only supremely abused multi-cheating in the realm of Aquilegia, which is a realm I have single handedly controlled, expanded and kept alive for over four months, as it took me less than two before I overtook every position of power in the realm. Both of the rebellions that had broken out a few months ago were attempting to overthrow the regime I had been forming, and I crushed both of them both IC and never doubted my success there. The following families belong to me: Twinblade (main)(duchess of AQ capital, big city), Balad (2nd best)(ruler/general AQ), Saber(lord of best AQ region, townsland), Drayven, Clearwater(judge of AQ), Callahad, Tavadon and Riluaneth (infiltrators galore).

Some of my unintentional side accomplishments with some of my non-main side characters include a Viscountesship in Riombara, with Aryeena Balad who I originally put there to spy on Riombara (right under Timothy Collettes nose); A Marchionesship (and generalship) in Melhed, which was givin to Echo Drayven and provided a good income for family investments (which I took advantage of in Aquilegia); A countesship in Outer Tilog with Calia Callahad whom I put in OT to read the funny RPs and to have a slow place I wouldn’t have to pay much attention to and many more.

Also I would like to point out, that 90% of the progression I made with my characters on the Twinblade account had not been with the influence of my multi accounts. All progressions made in Caligus, Heen and Irombrozia were made strictly with the interaction of other players, and even the duchesship I secured with my character Ashlyn was secured without the influence of my 7 (out of 11 total) characters in Aquilegia. However I did secure the rulership (briefly) with Ashlyn via the abuse of my multi accounts (which I had intended on doing again during the quarterly elections, but ive decided to quit instead and Aquilegia will now ultimately die in my absence).

I mainly came back to Battlemaster this time around to check on the realms of Heen and Caligus. Heen because I made it and was thrilled to see it prospering, and Caligus because I enjoyed that realm immensely my first time around. I also came to explore the infiltrator class (which I never got to enjoy my first time to play) which was quite fun, as well as Dwilight. After I learned Dwilight was open, I immediately started on my attempt to take Flowrestown, the big dark city, which I wanted to take ever since the map of Dwilight had been released (check the wiki). I have succeeded. I have held the city for months and now I have once again lost interest in the game. One big factor of my loss of interest (for those of you who care) is how religion plays such a big role. I hate roleplaying, discussing and debating religion. I get enough of that in real life, and there is just no way to escape it on Battlemaster.

Lastly, to the players I have played with these years, I am sorry if I have disappointed you. You guys were great and I just wanted to come clean and expose the magnitude of my operations now that im ending them.

Best wishes to all, Robert Wilson

Robert Wilson
