Malice is one of the first brothers Osha and a part of the first generation of Oshan nobles who left the safety of Koolaris to pursue a career abroad. Although initially viewed as one of the lesser members of House Osha, Malice has since become one of the most successful members of the House, as well as its most recognisable standard bearer throughout the known world. During his long and illustrious life Malice has known rulership over two strong and proud realms and is renowned for his legendary dedication to the causes which he chooses to fight.

Early Life

Malice was the fourth born son of Henry and Matilda Osha and thus the youngest of the first generation of the Oshan nobility. His was a difficult existence, growing up in the shadow of his older brothers and when he finally came of age, he was motivated by a strong desire to leave the shadow of his siblings far behind. Whilst his brothers began to climb the noble hierarchies of the realms of the Colonies, Malice chartered a ship to take him to Atamara where he could begin his noble career free of the baggage of family.

When Malice first made landfall in Ash'rily, it was down to luck rather than design. A simple refitting exercise after the ships stocks had become dangerously low. Yet Malice declined to continue his journey to the next port, being utterly mesmerised by the size of the city he had ended up in. A place that was several times the size of the largest cities he had seen in the Colonies and with an impressive style of architecture that strongly appealed to him, despite the gloomy atmosphere it invoked when the sun was hidden behind the clouds. Malice' career in the Ash Sea Islands had begun.

From Ash'rily, Malice slowly made his way across the Islands to Ser'quea, capital of his new realm where the Ashlantean army was gathering for a new conflict. It was a painstaking wait, with King Talius Sargeras Valorian taking his time making the necessary arrangements. Malice, in his naivety almost found himself swept up in a vitriolic campaign against the monarch, but had enough of his senses about him not to join the crowing and so early jeopardise his life in the Ash Sea Islands. The days passed into weeks and then, suddenly, the Ash Sea Islands found herself at war.

War and Mapo

Malice found himself involved in two separate conflicts that seemed to merge into one. On the one hand, they were embroiled in a battle with the Empire of Tara and on the other, the waning Kingdom of Southasland which had recently been overthrown by Tuchanese nobles and Taran sympathisers. For the most part during this time, Malice simply ensured to be involved in as many battles as possible, flawlessly implementing the orders of High Marshal Doc's Revenge and even embarked upon the path of the Hero in a bid to distinguish himself from the flotsam and jetsam of less martially gifted nobles.

Slowly but surely, Malice began to gain the notice of the most influential and important members of the Ashlantean nobility. Most notably, Malice was publicly honoured by King Nautilus for his diligent and thorough dissemination of scout reports to the realm. It was and remains to this day, one of Malice' proudest moments. Not long after that, after being present for Lord Otto von Christenson's liberation of Mapo, Malice was appointed as Baron of Mapo in a lavish ceremony and a new chapter began in Malice' life.

Around the same time as Malice' ascendance to lordship, the war with Tara ended with the capitulation of her capital, Aja and for a time it looked like life would grow more peaceful in the Ash Sea Islands. Though Malice was part of a small Ashlantean force sent to help RedSpan in the Taran war's aftermath against Carelia, which not only marked Malice out as a rare Ashlantean who had at one point fought alongside RedSpaniards, but the experience also proved invaluable to him in his later role as High Marshal.

Following the skirmishes in Carelia, the Ash Sea Islands marched in support of Drachenwald, which was coming under increasing pressure from the Cagilan Empire. Little did he know that it would herald one of the darkest days of his life. It was upon walking through the gates of Tarasac, the Drachenwald capital, that news came from the south of Abington's betrayal of the Ash Sea Islands and the sacking of the Isles. It was with a growing sense of horror and anger that Malice, alongside the rest of his Ashlantean brethren, returned home with near reckless abandon. They each were intent on one thing alone. Saving Ash'rily.

The Islands and becoming High Marshal

The days following the news of Abington's attack were a blur as Ashlantean forces marched back to Ser'quea and then south, to the very gates of Ash'rily themselves. The small local garrison had already been overrun and Abington had command of Ash'rily's fortress level walls. The situation demanded swift action and even in spite of having a much smaller force, Ashlantean forces managed to sally into the city using secret tunnels and carve up the local garrison with the aid of the Duke's Militia. Malice was a part of that liberating force, but it was one of the last occasions he would enter Ash'rily for a long time to come.

Despite a promising start to the conflict, Abington was resolute in her intent to deprive the Ash Sea Islands of all of her geographical heartlands. King Gabriel of Abington had successfully managed to isolate the Ash Sea Islands diplomatically and a five realm coalition began working away at the kingdom on all fronts. Despite the aid of Minas Ithil, the Ash Sea Islands slowly succumbed to Abington encroachment, though it was nearly a year before Abington besieged Ash'rily successfully. An act that finally forced the Ash Sea Islands into a humiliating peace.

The martial defeat in Ash'rily and subsequent surrender to Abington occurred in the early days of King Doc's Revenge Primus' reign on the throne. A time of flux and great turmoil for the Ash Sea Islands generally, as she adapted to the loss of most of her Islands and the inevitable exodus of nobles that wrought. Amongst the nobles that abandoned the Ash Sea Islands was the High Marshal who had presided over the last days of the war with Abington. Malice was the man who was appointed in his place.

Immediately, the Ash Sea Islands began to seek justice for the horrors that had been inflicted upon her in the recent war and it fell to Malice to call Carelia to task for her part in the sacking of Ash'rily. The Ashlantean armies quickly marched into Carelia, where they demolished the palisade of Craigmore forever, before heading onward to Nida. In that small forested city on the southern tip of the Cagilan Empire, the Ash Sea Islands tried to change history and began a colony takeover.

Carelia's effort to reclaim the city was one of the most epic battles Malice ever fought, with only a handful of Carelian archers remaining on the field by the end of the fight. Nonetheless, the Ash Sea Islands had failed and the winds of change picked up once more. News emerged shortly after of plotting by Abington, Carelia and RedSpan to destroy Tara. Declining to join the Cagilan Empire in a brutal war of subjugation against Carelia, the Ash Sea Islands honourably withdrew from that conflict and prepared instead to regain some of her lost strength.

Sullenport and Beyond...

Only another three and a half years of a four and a half year life in the Ash Sea Islands left to record. By 2017, I might finally finish recording everything that happened to Malice in the Ash Sea Islands! --Revan

Beluaterra

The move to Darka following the collapse of the Ash Sea Islands did little to ease Malice' soul. Even amongst the mercenaries, Malice could not escape his past and far from finding renewed energy away from the skulduggery of southern politics, he fell into a deep and unshakeable malaise. It fell to Malice' long time friend and companion from the Ash Sea Islands, Keiichi Hyral, to keep him rooted and she eventually persuaded him to follow her to Beluaterra

Keiichi's chosen desintation on Beluaterra was the small realm of Irombrozia, a place where House Hyral had had a long and prosperous history, though if anything the new continent worsened Malice' dark depression. As time went on however, Irombrozia was revealed to be a divided realm in which the High Marshal and his supporters sought death like so many in the Ash Sea Islands against the supporters of peace as embodied by Sunrise King Scurtingbord Sworde. It was the spark that led to Malice' re-engagement with his peers as he passionately spoke against efforts to sink a proposal for peace.

Despite Malice' strong opposition, the weakness of Sunrise King allowed the war mongers to scupper any chance of peace with Riombara in an act that would eventually doom the realm to extinction. But having finally shaken the depression that had plagued him, it was Malice' turn to urge Keiichi to move onwards to a better realm and after a chance meeting with a mutual friend from the Ash Sea Islands at a tournament in Jidington, they decided to join the daimon hunting realm of Mesh.

Beyond a dungeon escape to rival that of his giving the slip to Gauihu Olik many years before, Malice' early life in Mesh initially proved unremarkable until being given the honour of becoming Chancellor just 64 days after first joining the realm. His tenure proved to be a divisive one as Mesh struggled to reconcile her wish to fight daimonry with the needs of assisting her friends and neighbours. Malice sat doggedly in the latter camp until illness took him from his duties, thereafter taking a quieter role with the beginning of the Fourth Invasion.

It was during the outbreak of the new invasion that Malice finally completed and published his master work, The Ashlanteans.
