No one remembers the construction of the fortress of Kerfort presiding over the vast plains of Moeth, for its origin predates the current civilizations, though it bears striking similarities with Penfort with the narrow low arches of its corridors and carved crenellations. The venerable fortress extends its triple set of walls in the shape of concentric squares, leaving ample space for training grounds and granaries between the outer and first inner wall. Built above a natural underground lake, there is little risk for the fortress of ever suffering from famine if its reserves remain supervised.

The highest tower of Kerfort can be seen from as far as the mountains of Falens: the most ancient of the three, its pink granite is worn out by time, eaten by the vines on its southern side and reinforced by late additions of scaffoldings. At its top lies half an abandoned observatory, since the last projects of renovation could never be finished. It is said the vines must never be trimmed, or mages of Moeth will wake up and bring the tower down. The two other towers are more recent, built in the same grey granite as the Toren Stronghold. The taller one is traditionally reserved for the margrave of the fortress and occasional guests while the smaller one houses other nobles of the land.

Kerfort makes most of its income from jewelry sent to Taselak or Sandalak thanks to its expert smiths and the proximity of Cave of Guilt gold. Following recent adjustments, it also welcomes tourists to expensive tours of the place where they are allowed to consult the ancient tomes of the library. The labyrinthine winding corridors of Kerfort designed to trap invaders into dead-ends or killing rooms and lure them away from critical positions are an endless source of bewilderment for the fortress's inhabitants. These gimmicks of the place helped establish the reputation of Kerfort as a mysterious home for wannabe adventurers and tough cookies.
