Habapian Vineyards

The Habap Family produces wine at vineyards located on Atamara in Meldeen and on the South-East Island in Ibyp.

Meldeen

Since 1006, the Habap family has been producing wine in Meldeen.

1006 Pinot Blend

Dabug Habap used his archers to blend the wine after the most recent harvest, so he ended up with a curious blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio. Using archers as winemakers has its drawbacks. They thought both were the same grape.

1006 Grenache

Dabug states that he has "bottled some Grenache that should be good in a few more years."

1007 releases

Dabug presented some of his family's wine at a tournament in Foda:

Standing on a table, Dabug begins to speak, "My lords and ladies, it is an honour to be welcome in your midst, though I am but a simple wine-maker. Today, I bring you some of Meldeen's finest wine. Though now ruled by foreigners, my estate continues it's production. I have brought along several barrels for your enjoyment."
"The Pinot Grigio starts out with sweet aromatic fruits of the tropics; pineapple, guava and a touch of honeysuckle, hinting of springtime freshness, while also giving crispness on the palate with citrus and grapefruit. Yet true to the Habapian Vineyards’ style, there is a rich mouthfeel to give a full and satisfying balanced finish. I would suggest it as an aperitif or with a variety of food pairings from salmon and main-course salads to Heenite or Plergothian influenced dishes."
"Our Grenache is quite simply amazing. Thick, ripe mulberries, blackberries and blueberries progress into a rich, gutsy, licorice and bitumen palate, followed by masses of powerful, youthful, gritty fruit tannins, layered with tones of flowery, cranberry and dark fruit flavors, and a youthful acidity. For this, seek out Tony Malone, and have his people grill chicken or lamb for you."
"Finally, the Pinot Noir which I brought with me is from our Reserve Selection. This one, I named after my mother, Thea, so call it Thea's Selection. It is a blend of some of the softest, most forward and aromatic barrels of Pinot Noir in our cellar. The complex bouquet reveals black cherry, blueberry, smoke, dark chocolate, coffee and a hint of tarragon. The palate is surprisingly rich and full-bodied for a vintage with wines of such moderate alcohol. It is this richness combined with the wine's fine tannins and juicy acidity that champions its balance. This lovely balance, along with a wealth of clove, earth, cherry and black raspberry on the long finish, makes this good with just about anything. There's a fellow here by the name of Crip whose men have done amazing stuff with fresh venison. I would suggest you avoid any game of Skat with them, friendly or otherwise!"

(OOC: descriptions borrowed from a Pinot Gris from Williamette Valley, a McLaren Vale Grenache and the 2005 Lemelson Thea's Selection, which is at least as good as the notes indicate. Hopefully, I can get away with labelling Meldeen as similar to both Oregon and Australia....)
