Peasant Revolt (3 hours, 11 minutes ago)

lbert woke up early in the morning, for he had a lot of work to do. He had to work hard to restore Frundi’s stats.

As soon as he woke up, he noticed something was wrong. He was haring a weird noise. At first he had no idea what it might be, but it didn’t take him long to notice that those noises where in fact voices of lots of people shouting. Confused and still a bit sleepy, he walked towards the window and looked out. He was so not expecting to see that….

In from of the gates of his mansion loads and loads of peasants had gathered. They were armed with rakes, hoes, pitchforks and scythes. They were holding them in a menacing way, shouting (Albert wasn’t able to understand what they were saying) and threatening to knock over the gate.

Albert knew the peasants were not happy, but was doing his best to change that. He didn’t expect something like this to happen. He quickly got dressed in his day clothes and made his way outside. On his way out he noticed the terrified faces of the members of his court.

When he got outside, the crowd stopped shouting for a moment, but after realising who was the person who came out, they started shouting even more loudly. Albert could make out some of the shouts: “We don’t need you!”, “You are the worst baron we ever had!”, “Leave!”.

Albert gathered his thoughts and spoke in a calm voice (as calm as he could, given the circumstances):

My dear people! I know that you have suffered a lot in the last days, I know you are not doing very well at the moment, but I am here to help you!

Albert was interruped for a moment, as some small object, which he could not identify, flew past his ear.

The people were shouting louder and louder and Albert started speaking louder in hopes that they would hear him.

I am here to help you and to help restore Frundi’s stats. I am doing my best…

Albert ducked right in time as a tomato, thrown with great precision towards his face, barely missed him.

I know you might not believe me, but I am doing my best! But the are many things to be done and I need everyones help if we want …

Albert wasn’t quick enough this time as an egg hit him in the right leg.

What you are doing now is not helping at all! If you want things to get better…stop shouting and lets talk and see how we can … ouch!

A corn cob hit Albert’s arm.

One member of the court came out of the house and walked towards Albert.

Come on sir, there is nothing you can do now. They don’t want our help. They are too many, you can’t make them change their minds. And we can’t fight them…we have to go. I have instructed the servants to prepare our horses in the back garden. We are ready to go now. he told Albert.

But I have to help them…it is my duty, I can’t leave!” said Albert while ducking to avoid being hit by a small object.

The peasants started shouting happily outside the gate. Albert noticed the reason for their sudden happiness as he saw the gate had started tilting a bit.

Albert had never run away from something before, but this time he noticed he didn’t have a choice. He turned around and went back towards the house. As he was entering the house, a tomato hit him in the back of his neck. He turned around and shouted towards the crowd: “You will regret this!” but nobody heard him, they were celebrating their victory.

As Albert mounted his hourse and went out through the back gate he heard the front gate being crushed to the ground.

He felt ashamed and angry. He had not managed to do his duty properly…and above all….he had to run from a crowd of angry peasants… He had failed…
