Karims family originates from Sandalak City on the South East Island. A simple foot soldier since his 18th birthday, Karim fought besides Hassan Barghouti for his entire career. He was there when Sandalak conquered Ikalak, he was there when Sandalak overran Taselak in the Toren Stronghold, and he was there when Lord Boswick, Hassan and the rest of the Brute Squad led the peasant massacre in Taselak City. During the brutal war, Karim gained Hassan's trust and confidence, and he was appointed as first sergeant of the Champions of Sandalak, Hassan's elite infantry regiment. During the rebuilding of the island, Hassan trained Karim in the ways of a troop leader, as Hassan felt any day on the battlefield could be his last, and he wanted Karim to step up and fill his position if it was needed. And it was...

When the Second Great War started, Ikalak, Taselak and Toren had decided to eliminate the biggest threat: Sandalak. The three realms signed a ceasefire, and laid siege to Sandalaks regions from all sides. One by one, Sandalak lost its provinces, until they were reduced to their capital, and four badly damaged regions. Determined to fight til the bitter end, the soldiers of Sandalak fought their enemies wherever they could. During one of these battles, Hassan was killed. And so, much sooner than Karim had wanted it, he took control of Hassans troops, and led them to the frontlines himself, poised to avenge his commander and mentor.

Unfotunatly, the gods did not favour Karim's quest. After succesfully defending Sandalak City against the first assault of the combined forces of Taselak, Ikalak and Toren, the Sandalakians rallied to defend the city a second time. The battle was exceptionally bloody. Two heroes had already perished, the entire infantry and cavalry body of the invaders had been wiped out, and Karim, already wounded in melee combat, found himself the only defender left standing on the walls, facing 200 archers. Realising the futility of an offensive maneuver, Karim planted three banners on the walls; the Black Griffon standard of Sandalak, the Barghouti standard of Hassan, and finally his own standard. He and his two remaining soldiers calmly stood on the ramparts, until they were killed by a rain of arrows. A survivor of the battle reported that Karim and the two soldiers had laid down their swords, closed their eyes and awaited their death. He also reported that it took two dozen arrows, before Karim finally collapsed, a single tear rolling down his face.
