The Ancient Sword of the Lich King was originally wielded by the Lich King himself. For over a millennium he has handed the sword to his favored General. The last of which was Lord Mordan, an exiled death knight. When Lord Mordan was summoned by The Emissary of the Damned to aid the mortals against the Lich King, he still possessed the ancient artifact. The sword was lost after the death knight had been slain for the third time and returned to his exile. For nearly a year the Lich King has been contained and now his search for the artifact resumes with the summoning of two faithful death knights, Lord Vorkalth and Lord Drachen the Dissector. Neither of which will cease their quest and geas until they have not only recovered the sword but returned it to their Unholy master.

As artefacts of power go the sword seems mundane: a leaf-shaped iron blade of archaic design, its hilt wound with bronze wire and leather straps of unknown origin, its guards simple iron stanchions about the length of a human finger. Despite its age the blade is keen and unpitted, free from rust and with a satisfying balance. The slender tang bears runes in the Lendan script bearing the legend "Death is my Inheritance". The blade is protected by a scabbard of scaled leather, most likely from some great lizard of ancient times, its hue that of drying blood.

In battle the Ancient Sword is a mighty weapon, able to cleave through steel and bone with ease, but its quality belies a treacherous nature, ever willing to harm those who wield it without the Master's blessing.
