It is rumored that the Duke of Ash'rily and former King Doc's Revenge Primus has issued a formal challenge to the infamous Guaihu of Abington. Followup: More on the Primus/Olik Feud
The rumored feud between the heads of the Primus and Olik families in Atamara are true. We have been made aware of the actual text of the conversations HERE. As you can see, it is true that aspersions were cast at the Duke's mother, that Guaihu was called a parasite, that a challenge was issued, and that it was declined with reference to de facto Kingship of Abington. The Duke has written a letter to this newspaper restating his challenge.
Duke of Ash'rily Allegedly Issues Personal Challenge to Infamous Abingtonian
It is rumored that the Duke of Ash'rily and former King Doc's Revenge Primus has issued a formal challenge to the infamous Guaihu of Abington. We have heard little from that direction since the end of the war, but rumor has it that a series of insulting missives were exchanged between the two with the infamous Guaihu insulting the Duke in regard to his age and skill, and casting aspersions on the Duke's mother in the most ignoble manner. In response it is said that Duke Doc's Revenge called Guaihu out and compared him or his family parasites. Sources say that Guaihu has backed away from the challenge citing his importance to Abington as de facto "King", referring to his relation to the throne by marriage. Whether these rumors be true, and whether a challenge has been given and refused, remains to be seen.
War Clouds Gather
Visitors from the north bring news that war has broken out between the realms of Norland and Minas Ithil. Ash Sea Islanders were saddened by the news as both sides have been welcome friends of ASI in the past. Word has also arrived of potential conflicts involving Falasan, Cagilan Empire, Tara, Darka, and others. Atamara's time of extended peace appears to be coming to a close. Reports from Ser'quea relate increased sales of armor and weapons and a steady stream of units training in the square. Whether ASI will become involved is unclear, but the mere hint of a clash has sent warriors scurrying to the blacksmiths.
Word of The Great Serpant Spreads
A great religious revival has taken place in ASI of late with the construction of temples and shrines to The Great Serpant and a large increase in the number of fervent missionary clerics. Pagans and others have converted to Magna Serpaensism in record numbers and ASI currently boasts the largest number of active clerics in the world.
Military Reorganization Underway
In former years the armies of ASI were divided primarily by Duchy. In recent months a reformation has taken place with a variety of armies sponsored by noble patrons. This alignment appears to be more flexible. At the same time, High Marshal Sarrath has been very active in the difficult task of coordinating and managing all of these various armies into a cohesive whole. How this new concept will change ASI at war remains to be seen.
ASI Votes on Undead Zoo?
A referendum is currently underway for the construction and maintenance of a Zoo for the display of undead creatures. The eccentric proposal has raised some concerns about safety in the event of an escape yet has gained support from those who believe it will be a tourist attraction. Opinion is divided and the outcome is in doubt.
