Erya (Quasath) came into possession of the chain mail through sheer luck and happenstance. Happily pursuing undead to slay, she was tracking a powerful skeleton through the cliffs of Lavraz. She happened to come across it while climbing a higher ridge. With the element of surprise, and some well thrown rocks, Erya destroyed the skeletal champion and took its armour.
