Qazel Starts Out

Its Autumn, Family Mansion, Ibladesh City, East Continent

Qazel and his young uncle, Xiso were discussing his future and Xiso suggested that Qazel follow his path of heroism and Knighthood, while Qazel aspired for fame and individualism.

A heated argument ensued between the two and in a fit of anger Qazel left the mansion, his sanctuary since childhood and embarked on a journey, with the small amount of gold his grand mother slipped into his pocket before leaving - he knew not where to go but to a land far away from here where his family was little known.

On the docks of Ibladesh harbour he had a few choices to make - either the war torn island in the south - west, where the wars were going to end soon or the war torn island in the south east.

Choosing the South East Island, more specifically Ikalak, Qazel sets forth for it. With dreams and ambition Qazel embarked on his maiden journey into the life of nobility, honour and maybe notoriety.

Xiso sends gold to Qazel

Location: Family Mansion, Ibladesh, East Continent

A weeks later in Ibladesh City, Xiso has just returned home from a gruelling week in Ar Mosul.Having lost major part of his unit he was grumpy and irritable.

Cooling his heals he sat in the porch of his front yard, smiling inwardly he was proud of his family. Starting from the outskirts of Al Arab they had recently moved to the Capital and into a mansion and all this mainly through his siblings and his endevours.

he thought of the old days when they were all at home and continually squabble and now he had not seen any of them for a few years but he had learnt that his sister was doing well and running an theocracy in the far east. he wondered how an aethist as a child Gheros lead a theocratic realm but he knew better Gheros was always the more determined of the trio. Yeller too was doing well, and was happy to still be alive and maybe he'll survive the invasion and live to tell the tale someday.

Xiso's thoughts were rudely interrupted by his aunt's voice, she wanted him to run an errand for her. Xiso wondering what it was so urgent that they required him. Entering his mansion he was accosted by his aunt. she handed him a letter and an envelope and ordered "Post these to Qazel - he might require this additional gold in the South East." and then added, "It would have been so much nicer if he had served Ibladesh but no, you wanted him to lead a path that you had set for him. Your sister would have been very dissapointed if she was alive.. she trusted that you would take care of Qazel..."

Xiso grudgingly took the envelope which bore the family insignia and the pouch of gold coins... he counted them - one, two, ..., eighty gold!!.

Xiso impatiently told his aunt, "You are sending him 80 this time, next time send him 50!". His aunt however just smiled at him. Xiso had seen this smile before and had a nagging feeling that something was amiss. he asked,"Aunt, What did i say that makes you smirk at me?" Aunt responded in a nonchalant tone," I have already sent Qazel 100 gold a few days back. he would be needing this more than us."

Not wanting to go against his aunt's wishes Xiso decided to add a note to his aunt's letter. so turning the page he wrote:

Qazel,

This is the final donation of 80 gold from me. From now on, you will have to support yourself, so no more mistakes.

~Xiso.

This was a much toned down response to what was playing in his mind. he was happy with it, putting down his pen, he re-sealed the envelope and sent it on its way to Qazel.

Qazel spirals down the path of hatred

Location: Ikalak City, Ikalak, South East Island

On receiving 100 gold as support from his family Qazel was pleasantly suprised. with his eyes swelling up he mused, "Uncle Xiso isn't heartless after all - he must have forgiven me, maybe he understands that in Ibladesh i would have lost my individuality!" sighing he pocketed the 100 gold and set of for battle.

A few days later he received his first taxes, he was happy eith the 100 gold he had received - so this confirmed the rumours that Ikalak was a rich state. A few battles too had taken place and he thought he had fared well but hs unit however diddn't bear the same look. Onreaching Ikalak he realised that he had some more gold to spare after he had stowed some for emergency. he sent 50 gold back home. With a bright and shiny unit he set afoot for the east but news brought that a new region had sucessfully been taken over in the west and the mentors wished that i learn the art of administration. Enthusiastically Qazel set forth for Bieth.

Somewhere near Ikalak City, Qazel received another package from the family bearing the family insignia, with trepidation fearing that some ill might have befallen on his family Qazel opened the package. Heaving a sigh of relief noted that more gold had been sent and wondered if Xiso thought that he couldn't manage well, that he sent some more. Next to the leather pouch was a roughly folded letter, a trademark of Uncle Xiso's folding. Qazel quickly unfolded and read it. His mind went blank, as he once again re-read Uncle Xiso's message. he relaised "He was alone!"

With bitterness he stowed away the letter and continued on his journey.

Madness consumes Qazel

Over stricken with remorse, Qazel wrote: Location: somewhere to the east of Ikalak City, Ikalak, South East Island

Drowning

Weight attached to my legs,

gasping, drowning

pulling me to the bottom of the sea,

kicking, pushing

trying to break free.

Bubbles floating towards the surface of the sea

thats where i want to be

but this wieght is pullng me to the bottom of the sea

Gasping, kicking

I break free -

free, to swim afar,

the wieght now lies at the bottom of the sea

Hope renewed,

remorse for the wieght - but

thats how it must be

Now, making the rapid ascent to the surface of the sea
