Why We Fight!

That is the first piece of advice. See BattleMaster for what it is. It is a simulator. It simulates war. War is not just iron and blood. Much like the real world, war are fought over many things. Ideologies (be these political or religious), hatred, and resources. There have been examples of all these throughout the history of Battlemaster. Indeed, so strong has some of the hatred between realm in BattleMaster been that it has split over into OOC angry, cheating, and even racism. It was so serious at one point Tom considered deleting the continent involved permanently. Oh, how the East would have been missed.

Whatever you are fighting for, one thing always almost stands true. Justification. This need not reflect reality in the slightest. Most realms in BattleMaster have no honor and those that do... I mean did, have died, are in the process, or will be shortly. If you enjoy “winning” I suggest you avoid realms such as these. If you ever find yourself in a war against another realm whose ruler is constantly explaining why they are invading you to the rest of the ruler of your continent, you best not struggle. Whatever reason they are claiming to use to attack you, the truth is they think they can defeat you. Typically, the larger the realm is in comparison to your own, the more humorous the reason for their invasion can be. Thankfully, you really need not be concerned with any of this. Because it really doesn't matter.

Wars are important for other reasons too. They make the moronic pawns (that's you) of the realm busy so they don't get any ideas about over throwing the current government, not that many of you are even capable of such a thing. Most of you have trouble deciding what kind of unit type to recruit. However, in some rare cases, a leader may arise who could pose to lead such a threat. Once identified by the present rulership, these kind of people soon find themselves with a lordship or title and soon become even more of a pawn than you. Sometimes a creative and daring ruler may choose to ban this person.
