The White Vest of Blood

The Characteristics

As the name would suggest, the vest is of a white colour, although ages have worn it and the grey has been settling in. The cloth is rough and thick, and although its uncomfortable sight, it hints to be warm and dry. There are no buttons, only a few strings of rope to seal the vest from cold.

The Discovery

In the region of Treror, Ethiala, the adventurer Lucius had still been intrigued in such a way by the unique item he had conquered from the undead in Talex, that he didn't even noticed that he stumbled into an old man. The old man didn't even seem to twich whereas Lucius himself could barely stop himself from falling back. A strong hand grabbed Lucius' arm and kept him steady.

The old man smiled and wanted to excuse himself when he noticed how Lucius seemed to be listening to his belt. The belt told Lucius subconsciously that the old man could be trusted, and even more important, should be trusted. However, when Lucius looked back up, the man was gone and had only left a rough, red bruise on Lucius' arm where he had grabbed him.

Hours later, as Lucius had encountered a few lurking undead, he saw the old man sitting on a treestomp near him. The man beckonned him closer and made gestures so swiftly that Lucius could barely follow. When Lucius asked the man what ailed him, the old man made a cross upon his own lips and then lay his hand upon them. Lucius understood that the man was dumb and could not speak.

The old man took a stick and drew two figures in the sand, one serpent-like and one like a vial. Lucius did not understand and asked the old man to be more specific. When the sage, as Lucius had already figured out thus far, pointed at Lucius' backpack, he understood the man's meaning. He opened his pack and presented all his items in front of the sage, hoping one of them would fit the discription drawn in the sand. The sage immediatly took a vial of Beastman Blood and Lucius favorite Blackwood Cane.

As Lucius packed his items again the sage dissapeared in the bushes. However, an hour later, as Lucius sat on that same treestomp, the sage came back and gave him his items back. Lucius knew the gods had not been on his side today. However, the sage made gestures that pointed all around. It took Lucius a while to, understand that the sage meant that the place was not fit.

Lucius travelled around for several hours with the sage, and several times the sage failed. Until at one point the sage majestically came out off the bushes holding an odd vest. Lucius knews this was a unique item, but how it had been made, and how his cane and the blood had come to use was unclear to him. He wanted to thank and repay the dumb man but again, he had dissappeared.

Only hours later he saw the sage walking past, supporting his back with Lucius' Blackwood Cane. But Lucius smiled at the sight and pulled the white vest on, deciding to call it 'The White Vest of Blood'.

The History

A factual history is of course unextistant, but the powers and mystique abilities will without a doubt be part of history one day.

Already soon after he had put it on, the Vest made some of its abilities known. It adapted to the climate of its surroundings. Were the climate hot, the Vest offered a refreshing coolness to its bearer. Were the climate cold, the Vest was filled with warmth. Lucius explained this to the magical powers of the sage and the blood of the beastman. Some beastmen were know to be coldblooded when they transformed, they also would adapt to the surrounding climate. It appeared however that the sage reversed the adaption.

Furtheron, the Vest could broaden or tighten itself around its bearer's body. What use this would be, Lucius did not yet know.
