The White Book of Time
The large tome is covered in a fine white leather, of a type unfamiliar to the touch of the reader. The pages inside are ornately edged in gold leaf, and the script is still a bold black, as if it had been penned recently. An aura of age surrounds it however, and the archaic runes within are reluctant to yield their secrets to the unlearned.
Where does it come from?
The White Book of Time was penned long ago by the scholars of one of the ancient civilizations of Atamara. Within, it is said that it contains the greatest secrets of their civilization, but it is not known exactly what these secrets are. Here the rumors fly wild – the greatest strategies of their generals, secrets of statecraft, notes of immortality, or the raising of the dead. The most common rumor however, is that the White Book contains research into the nature of Time – not simply how best to use it, but to control it for oneself. The holder is claimed to be seen in two places at once, or to have foreknowledge of coming events well before messengers could possibly have reached the owner.
Whatever the truth of the book, it would take a dedicated scholar, or a noble who’s resources would pay for the aid of such a scholar to learn the language of the book well enough to begin to read it and master it’s secrets…
The first owner of the White Book of Time is the adventurer Ariania, who wrested the book from the bony clutch of a skeletal general while defeating the undead menace in Trassing. It is rumored that she has noble family located there, but such rumors are no doubt baseless.
