Way of the Warrior Saints/Saint Nycticorax

Patron Saint of Silnaria and lands surrounding, the night time and dusk, and The Central Lake of Atamara and those who Fish Upon It. Saint Nycticorax is depicted as a white owl, horned and fierce.

His only known prognostoces are the Meditations at Nightfall, a poetic treatise that is said to have been written on the southern shores of the Central Lake of Atamara.

Legend

Nycticorax was a swordsman and Knight of an ancient court, polished silver so that it shone white, and adorned with a great-helm that sported wide wings. He was devout in manner and thoughtful and high-minded above all else. He was known to be wise, and slow to action, but once he decided to fight, there was none more swift and dangerous. The Central Lake was his home, and he circled it many times over, protecting the fisher-folk and sailors who made their living on those shores.

During a moonlit battle, he gave his life protecting his king, and all the lake-folk wept bitter tears at his passing. The despair of those he protected, and those he fought alongside, was so great and so loud, that in the midst of the battle, he arose from death in the form of a mighty horned owl, white as the snow and with fierce golden talons. He destroyed the enemies of his liege before vanishing into the sky.

It is said that the fisherfolk, if they be faithful, still see him flying above the southern shores at dusk.
