A recently canonized saint, Nathaniel was slain while protecting his city, Barad Lacirith. Because of this, he is often known as "Nathaniel of the Silver City", or "The Silver Saint".

History

It is known that in his lifetime, Saint Nathaniel was the Duke of Barad Lacirith, and much loved by the populace. When an invading army breached the walls, Nathaniel took sword and shield in hand, and stood atop the walls defending his people. While the battle raged, we could not be moved from the parapet on which he stood.

The peasantry below were heartened by hi sbravery, and took up arms themselves; man, woman, and child all found the strength to fight as ferociously as the bravest knight. Nathaniel, through it all, never wavered, and cut down countless men as they tried to take hold in Barad Lacirith.

It is said that the whole population of the city that day was fighting as if an army of experienced soldiers. It is said that the very walls bled when struck, and even livestock became as unto the mightiest destriers. All of this happened as Nathaniel stood bravely, never faltering.

Finally, when it was clear that the day was won, Nathaniel paused to see to the safety of those who fought with him. In this breath, a Captain of the foreign army stabbed Nathaniel in a most treacherous way. Due to his evil and unchivalrous act, the Knight was struck down by the Earth and Stones, and pulled apart by ravens like a dog.

Nathaniel fell, and all in the City cried as one. The walls of Barad Lacirith seeped salty tears, which have stained them white to this day. The Earth and Stones accepted the body of the fallen Hero, and imbued Nathaniel with the Spirit and the Glory that makes Gods of men.

He rose again, with countenance of silver (like the lake which Barad Lacirith overlooks), and his sword and shield were now blessed, and shone like stars.

It is said that he gives blessing to all those who guard their home unflinchingly
