Family Hierarchy

The family has his own hierarchy system. All family member are dutiful to this ranks. Those who dare disobey or break the chain may, in some cases, be expelled from the family. As a powerful political family, those who are expelled may lose their position in a realm and, depending in the severity of the crime, may even die. The family is divided in 3 branches that follow this hierarchy: The Kolat, The Gozoku, The Keepers. All branches must obey the Patriarch.

The Patriarch

The direct heir of the Vykos it self, but the title is not inherited. To become the patriarch one of the family member must be chosen by the current title holder in life. Once he dies the title pass to the next without pleas from other family members. The new elected member will carry the title until he dies. He may never step down from this office, making the only possible way to do this killing him self. The Patriarch has access to all resources of the family and have the final word about anything involving the family. Actually the Patriarch is Myka Vykos, son of the last Patriarch Hagen Vykos.

Family Branches

The sects have their own inner hierarchy and answer only to themselves and to the Patriarch. Each branch decide who will lead them and not even the Patriarch may interfere on this. Once elected the leader define the hierarchy under him.

The Kolat

The main body of the Vykos. They are the merchants of the family. Those who bought the glory and the nobility for the family. Those who follow this paths are essentially traders even when they are not dealing with gold. The leader of this branch are normally also the Patriarch, but there was one case, John Vykos, that ruled the family from the Gozoku branch. The branch learder is called Caravan Master. Actually the position is filled by Myka Vykos, son of the last leader Hagen Vykos.

The Gozoku

They are the politicians of the family. Their commodity is favors and services. Even the Kolat also dealing with minor politics, is up to the Gozoku to work in the big picture and orchestrate the family political resources to allow that the Kolat make more profit and the Keepers have more freedom to do their job. The leader of this branch is called High Chancellor. The position are still vacating since the death of its last holder, Hagen Vykos.

The Keepers

They are the family defenders. Is their duty to watch all family members, no matter in which continent, and grant its safety. To grant that the Keepers are always doing his job, the leader of this branch may never became the Patriarch and must swear a oath of loyalty to the Patriarch. The content of this oath is only knew by the Patriarch and the High Protector, the title carried by the leader of this branch.
