Member of the Laenorran branch of House Velaryon. A child of Laurentius the Gilded, brother to Swenja and half-brother to Monford.

Appearance and Character

Aeravon is tall and powerful in appearance. Due to his height he makes a very towering, almost arboreal presence. His voice is very sonorous and deep, fitting for a man that comes from the north even though his Madinan accent often gives away his heritage. He has grey eyes, long raven-black hair and a strong jaw. In battle he is usually armored in black scales and wields a greatsword Winterthorn. During high winter he wraps himself in wolf's fur. His character is best described as brusque but righteous.

Chronicles of the North

Grehkia

Aeravon was very young when he departed his home in Madina and ventured forth with his father's delegation on a mission to expand trade business to Beluaterra. It took immense effort to get used to the radically different life in the cold northern reaches of this harsh continent. The delegation founded a headquarters in a more temperate climate, near Lake Salaman, pledging their oaths to the realm of Grehkia. Very soon after Aeravon came of age the news of his father's demise reached him and he officially took over the family's business and purpose on Beluaterra. Aeravon was never a very good entrepreneur and soon he fully discarded the venture and decided to carve his own path. Soon after he was appointed a Lord of Yipinalke by his first liege and friend Timsen Quasath, but when the pressure of Grehkia's northern neighbor Thalmarkin started to border a full-scale invasion Aeravon was invited by Zatar Zatirri to change his allegiance to Thalmarkin and leave Grehkia behind. As a youngster, not yet fully carved as a man, Aeravon took a leap of faith and pledged his sword to Thalmarkin.

Thalmarkin

In Thalmarkin Aeravon was heralded as a hero who gave his sword to the power of the North. In the same time the weak Grehkian regime considered him a traitor. Immediately upon arrival Aeravon hopped into the thick of the war against Caelint, Angmar and Nothoi and began to earn his first scars as a field commander. A campaign worthy of note included a siege of Firbalt which was thwarted by Nothoi's last moment arrival. He enjoyed the war and bloodying his sword regularly under the leadership of powerful Queen of Thalmarkin, Baelunìataisharà Blue, with who he would always have good relationship despite her many failings, probably because she earned his respect as a warrior first and foremost.

The war eventually came to an end and for his contribution Aeravon was rewarded with a prestigious governorship over Thalmarkin's prized capital Unger. During these years he found solace and comfort in the frozen wastelands of the North. Amidst the long nights and short days he established himself as a powerful Lord of his demesne. During this time he founded a family and got his son Thal and developed a great friendship with Count of Wailing Wood, Elios Everlight.

Days of peace didn't last for long. Upon hearing that Jacaerys Velaryon arrived to Irondale Aeravon knew that this was something that he needed to address. Jacaerys was of a rival Boreean branch of the House, a branch that tried to sabotage the Laenorrans in their neverending struggle for domination. Aeravon left Unger and began to plot his assassination. It took him several months to put things in motion, but after many attempts he finally managed to end him in a tavern in Ossmat. Upon his return to Unger he learned that he was removed from his lands by the new regime that took over Thalmarkin's throne, spearheaded by Zatar Zatirri that once wooed him to join Thalmarkin. Zatar was a terrible ruler that made many mistakes and Aeravon knew that this man can never be his friend again. Fueled by hate and anger he decided to do all he can to overthrow him. At a beginning of a war which saw Thalmarkin pitted against four different realms Zatar's reign finally broke and one day he simply disappeared. During these events Aeravon met his greatest enemy Dancer Rea and everything that happened afterwards he blamed on this man.

War raged in the North as Thalmarkin was beset on all sides. Aeravon's burning ambition saw him attempt to claim the Throne more than once but was always sabotaged by Dancer and his circle of evil. Torn between his desire to rise as a King and his love for his homeland he eventually settled to lead the armies of Thalmarkin as a General. He was in charge of broken ranks of the northerners and fully outnumbered by Irondale and Nothoi. Aeravon started to feel the burdens of responsibility as the pressure mounted. But he proved capable enough as he reformed the armies of Thalmarkin and held the tide of enemies that kept coming week after week. To this day the northerners remember these days and revel in the glory that they found for Thalmarkin was once again the roaring Bear of the North that crushed their enemies and reconquered all of their lost lands. Yet the internal division was too deep as Aeravon found himself battling his enemies from within more and more. The last chance to break their resolve came when the Throne of Thalmarkin became vacant once again. Aeravon decided to make his last bid to become a King. He failed, and this was a signal that Dancer's circle became too strong and impossible to defeat from within. Aeravon decided to leave Thalmarkin for good and took his family south to Ar Agyr, hungry for the manifest of his destiny.

Ar Agyr

Upon his arrival to Ar Agyr Aeravon found the much required camaraderie and fellowship he sought for. The Land of the Five Duchies united under a strong and principled Queen Aibhlidhn of House Dubhaine was the only untainted human realm that held humanity's interests close to their hearts. His rise in station quickly followed as he was first awarded the County of Seven River and appointed as the Queen's Judge and afterwards promoted as the Duke of Avalon and Margrave of Fronepu.
