Virgil Ahk Kinslayer

Origin

Virgil Ahk is descended from the original Virgil Vargas the Kinslayer, who slew his own brother in treachery. Although the Virgil of antiquity was executed, his disgrace was transferred to his daughter, Arymai, and she was exiled and given the shameful surname of Kinslayer. Her eventual progeny resulted in Virgil Ahk, named for his distant grandfather of 100 years before.

He was born to honorable parents, his mother of the direct line of the Kinslayer Vargases, and his father of simple merchant stock. As his parents believed his namesake to have been unfairly accused, they named him in his honor, and the secondary name of Ahk represents the shame upon his family, literally, Ahk means 'the disgraced'. Arrogant and cruel, he found his parents to be overly noble and good-hearted, and he secretly revelled in the shame of his ancestor.

He left home at the age of 18, hiring on as a caravan guard for a local merchant. From there, he made his way as a particularly cutthroat mercenary, switching sides to the highest bidder without pause.

After some time, he learned the location of true Vargas' families holdings, and visited with the intent to declare himself a member of the clan once more, despite the evils of his ancestor. He was turned out, and the young Grace was particularly fiery, threatening him with a blade and calling him all manner of crude names. Virgil Ahk departed the manor, to return with two hired men late the next night, when they kidnapped the 14 year old Grace and beat him senseless, leaving him to be discovered by his family in the field outside their home.

Virgil departed to resume his mercenary life until, learning of Grace's pledge of alliegance to the Cagilan Empire, he took upon himself the undeserved name of Vargas and swore fealty to the King of Abington, the enemies of Cagilan.

Career

After a stint of nearly 7 years as a freelance mercenary, Virgil Ahk has joined the armies of Abington in order to wage war upon their enemies, predominantly the Cagilan Empire and the young noble, Grace.

He plans to further his career as an Infiltrator.
