While most of your recent updates seem accurate, you must be basing your total followers count off only the total followers in regions with temples. Priests at a large enough temple (lvl 3?) can check the religious spread (and share a scout report of it) across the entire continent, not just where you have temples. For what it's worth, the old followers count was closer to the actual count than the updated one.
