The Esotericus family has their origins on the continent of Atamara, in the realm known as Tara. The oldest stories known to the present members of the family contain references to authority and influence in the early days of the region known as Jagla, especially in the Old Religion that once flourished there.

These days, the Esotericus family is fairly well-off nobility, through the hard work and dedication in Tara of the oldest son and heir to the family name, Adolphus, as well as the impressive contributions to the family fame by his younger sister Varchilde, who left Atamara to seek her fortune on the far continent of Dwilight, in the realm once called Morek and now styled Xinhai. Living somewhat in their shadow is their youngest brother, Ardorus, who seems to desire nothing more than to emulate his brother.
