Stalwart adventurers of Ar Agyr, a huge horde of undead has beset Seven Rivers whilst I'm abroad on manoeuvres and our home garrison will be hard pressed to defeat it. If there are any amongst you with the means to hunt these abominations you will earn the favour of the Crown and my personal thanks by doing so.
Aibhlidhn Dubhaine (Queen of Ar Agyr)

A rebellion is breaking out in Irondale. Earlier today, Ryosuke Guile has called for an uprising against the current government. Details are still sketchy.

That is a nice big group of them. I am currently in Fronepu and was planning to head back to Agyr. I'll be looking to head to Seven Rivers to take them on after Sunrise (next turn) but will see how things look before making a final decision.

Those who are planning to join me, use this turn to get ready and/or move to a region next to Seven Rivers. If you're further away than that and are coming to the area, let us know. Depending on how things look in the morning and how things go we may delay another half day or need a second battle to deal with them.

Current battle plan for Seven Rivers, long range delay and pick them off.

Range 5 forces: Back Defensive Line

Range 4 forces and Infantry: Rearguard defensive line

Dead things need to die.

Spear in hand Nerta spins through the wave of rattlers even as the Old Man shouts over her shoulder and wrestles with another shade. The horde was too large and too organized to be from natural magic. There must be a necromancer somewhere, a cursed soul promised greatness by the Crystal Maiden but truly just a pawn in her eternal game against the Dark Mistress.

The only question is where?

As indicated yesterday, and as I haven't heard any different from anybody that they're not yet in position it seems everybody who is planning on coming is already waiting, with those 3 groups still stationary I'm moving to Seven Rivers to take them on and chip away at them.

Those who are coming move to Seven Rivers, same long ranged settings as previously indicated.

Range 5 forces Back defensive line Range 4 forces and infantry rearguard defensive line

Minimum retreat settings as this is likely going to take more than one battle.

I tried a scroll of Holy Light but unfortunately it failed. A pity magic isn't as dependable when used for good as for evil.

As a note, their takeover of Seven Rivers is already 26% done after 1 day. That gives us approximately 3 days to stop them before we permanently lose a region as we don't have enough nobles to take it back. So we either lose Seven Rivers until we got more nobles, or have to give up a different region to enable us to take it back.

I'm looking at shooting up as many as we can and escaping battle with minimum retreat rates to at least slow them down, and then see what happens and either immediately go for a second battle. Or head back to Froneput for a quick replacement recruit before going back.

In case anybody is wondering what the idea I'm going with is. We've already spent up to a day planning to gather since the first scout reports, I don't think we can wait too much longer due to our noble count.

While the battle in the fields raged, another battle took place in the hollows alongside each of the seven rivers. Locals murmured in awe about a woman, moving like none had seen before. The stories varied: Some saw her drop from a tree with nothing but a tiny glint of metal in her hand, and a greater bearbolg fell silently. Some saw her laughing, taunting three greater spidogs into charging her, only to fall to an array of traps surrounding her.

But all the stories agreed: She slew all the greater monsters, large and fierce enough to threaten whole troops of soldiers, in the space of a few hours. And then, later, she found all their lairs. Every hole in a riverbank, every nest in every tree, and she slew them all. Every last spidog web was burned, every last dire wolf eviscerated, and a small mountain of mudmuck hearts was found by the last hut at the edge of one of the villages. In a single night, the seven rivers had gone from being infested and plagued with monsters, with a whole army struggling to hold them back, to nothing. And in a few hushed whispers, between old friends, one last tale was told. That thirteen heads, those of the great champions whom this hunter had slain at the beginning, were laid in a pattern around an old shrine to the Wolf Lord. An inner ring of six, and an outer ring of what would be eight, with a single spear planted directly in front of the shrine to complete the pattern.

This was a challenge, plain enough, and having slain that many of His Children, there was agreement the Great Wolf would pay attention. What kind of attention, now…That was another question.

Lords, Knights and Commons of Ar Agyr,

I cannot help but feel pride at the way you have pulled together in the last few days to defend our homeland from the legions of the dead and the carrion feasters which accompany them.

Whilst you have been engaged in this collective endeavour my expedition to the abandoned Obeah lands has discovered that they too are crawling with some pretty unsavoury denizens and it doesn't surprise me that Nova has been hard-pressed. General Rowan was wounded by these loathsome beasts as we fought our way through Rueffilo, slowing our advance on Irombro. When we've finished exploring the City we'll turn north to see what condition the other cities are in and then seek a safe harbour to sail home.

Your Majesty,

You mentioned the favour of the Crown, and I think there might be something that would work out for all of us adventurers as well as benefiting the Crown. Many of the Agyrian regions don't have bounties for dealing with monsters and undead, which makes it harder for us to make our living by hunting, and means we have to do other things for the coin to live.

Keeping the bounties up, or figuring out some other way for us to get the coin to just focus on hunting, would help keep things from getting this bad again, and we'd be able to get better equipment to hunt those Necromancer-spawned abominations before they killed so many.

Henceforth any adventurer finding a region of Ar Agyr without posted bounties for the suppression of monsters and undead is to contact the Realm Council and the matter will be addressed as a matter of urgency. Adventurers are also invited to join the First Bank of Ar Agyr where a small monthly stipend will be made available to those with a proven track record of service to the Crown.

Your Majesty, We continue to battle with the dead but it seems the Hierarchy of the Abyss is moving in force. We stopped one dread necromancer of the Crystal Maiden I'm Seven Rivers but there might be one down south too.

Mistress Nerta,

I'm currently down south in the abandoned Obeah lands doing what I can to get to the bottom of these reports. I'm told there's a war going on between local Necromancers though both the reasons and their stratagems are unclear. Not all of the dead I've encountered have been willing to give battle though there's certainly enough of them when they do.

When I return to Ar Agyr I may fund an expedition of Adventurers to investigate further.

One more Dragon's Tear for the collection! I ambushed one of the lesser retinues of a necromancer in Marpii, and they were carrying the thing.
