Letter from Tan
Message sent to Everyone in the realm
Rhaella, I wish you a safe journey back home, and console you on your loss. Also, thank you for all your service to this glorious realm. If it's not too late, I'd like to throw my hat in for the Judge's position. I've been a member of council before (Banker), and I'll be a good counter to the ambitious Tsu ;)
Tan (Count of Bil Havil)

Report from Aldo Unti

I also wish to announce that I'm running for Judge.

I haven't really got the counsel experience that Tan has, but I'm going to throw my hat in the ring anyway so you have a choice.

Now for some propaganda I guess.....

I hope to bring in such useful legal ideas to Melhed as, trial by jury (so I can't ban all you hooligans myself), civil rights for troop leaders (so you'll know what I'll get irked about), and of course keep an eye on Tsu (he's a shifty one).

Well their's my pitch, now let's see who gets the big judge chair.

Best of luck Tan.

Jeez, now I actually need a platform to run on? Thanks a lot, Aldo!

Seriously, here are some of my views. I think a formal trial by jury system is impractical, but I support having input from troop leaders in judicial cases. Also, while certain punishments should be mandatory for lesser crimes (eg. looting, disobeying orders - 1st time a warning, 2nd time fines etc.), more serious issues such as treason or infiltration will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, with no option excluded (bans, exile, execution). Finally, I pledge to act impartially and fairly, which includes investigating and charging council members if necessary (I'm looking at you, Tsu!) and ensuring any money that mysteriously disappears while friendly infiltrators are nearby is promptly returned to the treasury.

Vote Tan!

Anyone else going to run for judge at the last minute?

Hmmm, do I detect a common theme to these election platforms? My vote is for Tan! He's experienced and seems less likely to impeach me when I'm caught looting the treasury to build my solid gold house.
Tsu Sun (Prime Minister of Melhed, Duke of Agyr)

Maybe I should start stalking Tsu to collect a few of these gold pieces and break off a piece of the solid gold house for myself :)

Hey no fair! I didn't know I could get endorsements from important political leaders.... must be that experience thing catching up with me.

Well in response to Tan's counter propaganda I have the following statements:

Juries would be unwieldy for most cases, but I want to institute the option for an accused person to demand a trial by jury for major (banning) offenses if they want.

I want to draw up a documented list of illegal actions and their penalties for accountability to the people. This way if you know what I should be handing out as punishment I can't make stuff up if I don't like you.

As far as me keeping an eye on Tsu and judging him (and all others) fairly; he's getting nervous about me stopping his embezzlement and I'm only running for judge.

My last point is that judge work is mostly maintenance and organization which happens to be something I like doing in games like this, so you can count on me.

Well I hope you're happy Tan, now both of us have had to do some work.

He wants me to stop embezzling? Quick! Off with his head!

I'm planning to vote for Tsu for judge. Since a big part of the position seems to be keeping an eye on Tsu I figure that he can can watch what this Tsu guy does better than anybody. So tell me what you can do to watch him better if you want my vote. :)

Well first I would not lose my head; a very important step that most forget. Then I'd probably laugh at Tsu's crazy shenanigans, such a funny guy our Tsu. If, mind you only if, Tsu were to try and follow up on his treat, by say sharpening his beheading axe (as apposed to his disemboweling axe) I'd probably remind him that if he kills me I'll have to impeach him. After that I'm sure we can come to a simple understanding about who and who not Tsu can behead.

Well Bob I can't really think of any way in which I can keep an eye on Tsu better then the man himself; so I guess I'll have to rely on my Law Ninjas trained by the late Aduro, who always said the world needed more ninjas.

Well, this judge election sure seems to be heating up! No problem for me, I'm fine with being slow-cooked over the burning coals of public discourse, as long as my opponents avoid the use of the tangy barbeque sauce of hearsay and fear-mongering.

I wasn't expecting Tsu's endorsement - in fact, I choose to disown it completely! (No offense Tsu)

With regards to Aldo's counter-counter proposals, I'm still not 100% sold on the jury idea. While it's a good idea for someone accused of a major crime to be given the option of a trial by jury, I'm wondering how such a jury will be decided upon. Also, what if the person is "one of us" who's accused of treason? I think public discussion of the options in such cases is necessary (whether the accused desires it or not), but not an actual jury.

For Aldo's second idea, I think it's great for the lesser crimes, to avoid the accusation that someone has been punished on the whim of the judge. Also, that's why I propose that people are given at least one warning for non-serious offences.

Now the third point, and the related question from Morgan. First off, I would have realized before my electoral victory that while Tsu is generally a jovial fellow, he can be prone to these spontaneous homicidal urges (and who can blame him, really?). So, before anything could happen to me, I would first secure the services of a body double who, through years of training and special diet of radishes and horsemeat, has a neck the density of a palisade. With Tsu's axe-attack thus thwarted, I would quietly disarm him and lecture him on the errors of his ways, and convince him to return his gold house to the treasury and use his personal wealth to build an orphanage (made of normal building materials).

Either way, I think Aldo or me would make good Judges. Personally, my beat is that the winner will be someone who's not officially running, but who people chose in their voting preferences months ago. Whoever he or she is, I'm sure will do a good job too. But if you want my advice ...

Vote Tan!

Not only did you write more, but some of your stuff is actually relevant. You must be cheating you fair and honest person you!

Well all joking aside, I hope our little debate at least makes everyone actually vote because let me tell you I'd hate for all our propaganda to go to waste. So remember people, be a participant, vote! (otherwise Tsu will use that axe of his...)

Good luck Tan; here's to hoping it's a close run.

With all this election stuff going on I felt a little left out so I am currently announcing that I will be entering into the election spirit.

I am running for the position of: Useless guy that doesn't get voted into anything.

My qualifications are that I'm currently not running for Ruler or Judge and I haven't even been voted into anything.

Also I am currently the only candidate running for this position. :)

I'm also going to nominate a new candidate for this judge position. I know there is only an hour left but I feel that they can do a good job and deserve the opportunity.

I nominate some of these undead that we capture in Ar Agyr to be voted to the judge position.

I feel that a horde of these surrounding Tsu can keep watching him all the time, and if we ever need to find Tsu we just have to follow the trail of dropped undead bones to him. :)

To make things a little more interesting, I am now taking bets on who wins. the candidates and their payouts are as follows:

Aldo (5.73-x)/[(6.92+y)(7.15-x)], 0<x<y<5

Tan (3-4x+5x^2)/[(5+x)x^2], 0<x

Undead [(8x+9)(9+5x)]/[(81+117x+40x^2)(.5)], x<>pi*e

Tsu 3 monkeys to a bowl of jelly

Bets will be taken up until turn change.

What about the ruler? All this judge propaganda and no real ruler race. We've always known Tsu will win every election. Maybe it's time to spice things up a little.

I would like to nominate Ott for ruler. He is obviously the most knowledgeable noble in this realm. He has also been known to log in every single turn, and to write songs about Bob killing heroes.

If that's not enough, I administered a quiz about several important and relevant issues to Ott, and he attained a perfect score, which is more than I can say for the rest of you. To prove it, see if any of you can answer these questions. They are identical to the ones Ott responded to.

Question #1: What was th a)Female b)Male c)Don't know!

Question #2: Wh a)Koban Shark b)Koban Cat c)Koban Cow

Question #3: Whattheblunt was th a)Kurobei b)Ninja Woman Yae c)Dr. Ass

I await your answers.

Congratulations to Tsu and Aldo. For the first order of business and with the past history of Aldo as general and his being removed for inactivity twice in 2.5 weeks I propose that we make being removed from judge for inactivity an executable offence. :)

Also for the results of the other election on my running for Useless guy that doesn't get voted into anything.

The final count was one vote for yes and 1 vote for abstaining.

So with 50% of the valid votes and a count of 1 vote to 0 I have been elected to this position.

With that being over, now I must also regret to inform you that I must step down from this position since I can no longer be the useless guy that doesn't get voted into anything because I have now been voted to this position.

By electing me to this position I am no longer qualified to have it it. :)

I'm not quite sure what to say....

It was a close race and I want to thank everyone who voted for me for their support and everyone who didn't for believing in the spirit of democracy.

I'll take this time to say that I plan on having an open door policy so feel free to stop by with suggestions or complaints. (the worst I can do is ban you ;))

I will get around to fulfilling my campaign promises as soon as I can, so try not to do anything illegal till then.

As far as Bob's point about me auto pausing; I think Tsu can keep an eye on me while I keep an eye on him, so there shouldn't be a problem.

For Melhed! If you want a ruler race then I nominate Tanko for rule because he is the realms only Hero and that means he runs the risk of dying while dealing with these undead Judge candidates :)
